I'm grateful Abby is here, but she asks me too many questions sometimes.

"So where did you go? They were looking for you the whole time."

I didn't realise that the time I'd took had been so long that graduation had already ended. Abby waited for me while my parents headed back home. "I just wanted to take one last look around the school before we leave." I lie.

"You took an hour?" "Yeah. I just sat on the bench and relinquished in all the memories we had. Like how Maverick and you met..." I continue with false pretences as I drive us back home. "Oh no, don't even remind me..." she's filled with humiliation.

"Why? I think it's sweet..." "Hah! Him spilling coke on me then calling me a goth. I hated him, but I admired his guts I guess." she says smiling.

Only two more minutes left to the house and I suddenly see a shiny grey car. Who's could that be? I lean over to the front and look at it closely. It's a mustang.

Who has a grey mustang? I wonder for a while until the memory floods back in.

"No!" I say out loud.

"What happened?" Abby asks softly. "You left something at school?" she asks.

"No..."

"Then?" she asks until she answers her question herself. "What? Did your parents invite him?" "I...don't know." Maybe they did invite Damien, or maybe he hypnotized them with his crazy vampire voodoo, if he has any.

I park the car in and let Abby exit the car first. Damien is sitting on the stairs leading to the door. His hands are clasped together and his eyes are focusing on my car.

He greets Abby first and the two of them talk as I get out of the car. My nerves are shaking and my feet are trembling again. What am I going to do?

As I approach them, he stands up and adjusts his blazer. "Alexandra. How are you? I didn't get to talk to you. Your friends told me you left." He's playing around, so I follow his pace. "Yes Mr. Wivler. I was roaming around the school yard. Was there anything specific you wanted to ask me?" I ask.

"About my proposal..." he says. I didn't know what he was going to ask me, so I quickly tell Abby, "Hey, why not you go in first. I won't be long.". She nods her head and heads inside with glee, as if I didn't know what that cynical smile was.

I roll my eyes to look at him now, but I immediately look back down to the floor.

"You're scared of me, aren't you?" he asks.

"Can you just get on with your original question and go away." "But I thought I could come over for dinner..." he says and I widen my eyes. "Absolutely not!" I argue. "Ok, hold on...I came here to apologise. I didn't mean to scare you before..." "Scare me? You were trying to kill me! Twice!" "No I wasn't. I just, I guess I was trying to spook you only..."

"No. You were trying to kill me!" "Yeah and it was a good thing your boyfriend came to your rescue huh?" he asks.

"Caivanial is not my boyfriend." I tell him.

"Then my suspicion is confirmed. You have no reason to deny me." "I have every reason to deny you!" "You seem confident Alexandra. Maybe we shall continue this another time then, your mom's already at the door." he says and leaves to his car.

The door opens quickly as my mom's head jeers out, "Mr. Wivler, won't you stay for dinner?" she asks.

"Thank you. But I've got a flight to catch after this." he says and I pray that he isn't lying. They exchange wishes with him giving me the last wink before he drives off to the South as my mom brings me back in.

"Mi amor, I made your favourite turkey and chíle."

"Oh, thank you. I'm starving!" I try to relinquish in the relief.

"Your welcome. Now come, let's eat!" she says with her hands on my shoulder as we walk to the dining room.

"There's my adventurous girl. You should've asked us to come with you. We could've taken pictures together." dad says as he starts putting the turkey on his plate. "I wanted it to be a lone ranger kind of thing." I explain as I sit down.

"Well, at least you're back home safe." he says then looks at Abby. "Yeah, we were really worried just now..." Abby says with the turkey in her mouth.

"Why are all of you making such a big deal about it? It was just an hour..." "A lot of things can happen in an hour mi amor..." mom says.

"Now, eat..." she says and all of us start munching. It's true when they say that a mother's cooking is the best in the world—they can make anything taste good. "So, Abigail, where are you going after this?"

"Ummm, I guess it would be Shefeldin. It's got the best programme for me so far." "Really? What program is that?" mom asks.

"Forensic science. Maverick's mom inspired me I guess." "As long as it's what you want." "What about you? Have you made up your mind yet?" dad asks me.

"I still don't know yet. Shefeldin's good but Dalphous is also good too. But Dalphous is too far away." I say. "Do you want to go and look at some colleges tomorrow?" dad asks.

"Yeah sure." I say.

Maybe looking at some colleges would bring me some peace after all the supernatural stuff that was going around. The dinner continued on peacefully and Abby stayed the night with me. We had our long conversations and after she fell asleep, I laid barren in my mind.

I had no mood to sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about him.

Was Caivanial really gone?

I wasn't going to school with him anymore and I told him to leave me alone for good.

Maybe it was a bad idea to let him go.

I just feel empty and scared now that I'd have to face Damien off alone.

Maybe I did need Caivanial.

No.

I don't need him...
