Donnie's POV
It was a shock. I mean, she never had an outburst like this before. And she hasn't talked to me in three days. She stopped eating too.
She scowls at me, then gets her kicked puppy look. She retreats to a corner, facing where the two walls meet and shaking. I pad over and lightly tug at her bandages. She flinches.
"Maggie... I wanted to see how your eyes were healing. Allow me that." I whisper. She pulls her knees in tighter and whimpers. I tug the end of the bandage out of its knot and start unraveling it before she can stop me. It's got a bit of dried blood, but not much. I pull her backwards, into my plastron. Her hands cover her eyes. "C'mon... Just a peek?"
"No."
"Not one?"
"Not even one."
"Okay..." I pry her hands away. She glares- glares- back. One eye- her right- is normal, but her left is foggy. Blind. She widens her eyes, then snap shut.
"Too bright, too bright!"
"Oops... Shoulda seen that coming... Heheh..."
