So, I, um....1K READS!?!?? OH MY GOSH GUYS WHAT THE HECK!!?? You have nooo idea how much this means to me. I was working at a camp when I found out and everyone around me was worried bc I just completely shut up and stopped everything. Anyways, I never thought that this stupid idea I had would ever come this far, and it means the world to me. I'm sooo thankful for all of you guys for reading and enjoying this and allowing Mr.Snuggles and I to get this far. We will post a proper thank you when Mr.Snuggles gets back from camp. Honestly this is my most proud accomplishment in the writing world and I cant thank you enough. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this *late* update. It's kinda cool and gives recognition to a rly underappreciated charter (no, not Dex. Yet.). So, as usual, Enjoy!
_________________________________________The next thing she knew her room was flooded with sunlight and there were noises coming from large animals outside. Those noises only come from lunch time in the pastures. Then reality blasted her, waking her up in an instant. She had slept in until lunch, she hadn’t done that since she was staying in everglen the night Tam was found. She threw her covers to the side and ignored the headrush that came when she stood too fast. Limbs flailing she pulled her work clothes on over her crazy hair and zoomed outside.
“Sorry. I guess i was tired.” She apologized to Edaline after she tracked them down, they were making their way to Verdi’s enclosure carrying barrels of food.
“That’s just fine, it’s good to see you get some rest. I left some mallowmelt in the kitchen for you. Go ahead and eat. Then you can help us with the verminion.” Edaline smiled back. Sophie sighed and nodded, turning back to the house. Hardly excited about what she would be doing when she came back outside. She was sitting at the table gobbling down the remaining pieces of mallowmelt and drinking a large glass of lushberry juice when she remembered how she slept so soundly.“Hey Sophie.” Fitz flashed his perfect smile as his face appeared on her imparter screen.
“Hi.” She grinned back, unable to come up with a better response. His smile tended to do that to her. “How’d you sleep?”
“Same as normal.” He shrugged. “What about you? Did it work?”
“I just woke up.” His grin seemed to explode, growing a million time over with glee. “ But that song, where did you hear it from?”
"The lullaby? My mom would sing it to Biana or I when we couldn’t sleep.” His gleeful expression twisted with confusion. “Why?”
“No reason, I just thought I heard it back when I was in the Healing Center.” The confusion of his face disappeared and it was replaced with pink cheeks.“You heard that?” He asked shyly.
“Yeah…” Sophie responded, nodding slowly. “Did you..?”
“When you were out back in the Healing Center, you were sorta moving around. Like you were either really nervous, you were about to wake up, or the sedatives were somehow affecting your mind. I transmitted the lullaby and you went back to being perfectly still.”“Huh, that's odd.” She glanced down at her plate and frowned. “ I have to go help Grady and Edaline feed the Verminion. Talk to you later?”
“Sure, see you later.” Then his face disappeared from the screen. Reluctantly, she rose from her chair and dragged herself outside. Grady and Edaline were waiting for her near the Verminion inclose, as promised, covered in dinosaur floof. Grady grinned a seemingly sinister smirk, and buckets of food in hand they traveled the rest of the way to the disgusting creature’s enclosure.
After what seemed like hours, tough it probably closer to 30 minutes, they finally exited the pen. Grady and Edaline seemed to have failed to mention that while Sophie had been staying at Everglen they had received two more verminion. With tattered clothing and muddy skin, Sophie and Grady were led by Edaline to the nearby hose.
