Could you message Elwin and let him know we’re on our way? She asked Fitz, mainly because she didn’t know how sending messages worked on an imparter. After several years living in the elvin world she still didn’t know how to send messages on an imparter. She made a quick mental note to ask sometime, and continued leading the group towards the cliff.
Once they arrived at the drop off she turned and faced her friends. She caught Fitz at the back discreetly putting his imparter back into his pocket before giving her a small nod, she mouthed the words thank you to him then turned her attention back to the group.
"Where are we going?" Linh asked, followed by a few other mumbles of agreement.
"Can’t tell you." Sophie answered, her knowing smile returning to her face. She turned back around to face the edge of the cliff, and felt someone grab her hand. She looked over and saw Keefe smirking on her right, with Dex on her left. The others followed suit and eventually everyone had joined hands. She counted to three in her head, then walked over the edge, pulling her friends along with her. Just before they were about to smash into the water below Sophie heard as thunder clap as she tore a hole in the universe and they fell into the void. She closed her eyes and envisioned the glittering building of Foxfire, before being pulled through another opening in the void and tumbling onto the ground.
Ouch. Wow did she really need to work on her landings. Everyone toppled on top of each other and it took a second for them to get back up. Once they looked around to get a feel for their surroundings, finally realising where they were.
"Foxfire? But why-" Biana’s voice trailed off as she saw the doors to the academy. Standing by the entrance were Livvy and Elwin, smiling wider than they had in a long time. In between them stood- "Tam." Biana’s voice was barely above a whisper, and within a second she was darting towards him.
Everyone began running after her, Linh in front of the rest on them. But no one ran as fast as Biana. As she was approaching Tam’s smile grew bigger and brighter. He slowly let go of Elwin’s hand, just in time for Biana to tackle him in a hug. She clung onto Tam as if he was the only thing she had left, he did the same.
When the others made it up to them Biana had finally unburied her head from the crook of his neck, and he reached up to wipe a tear from her cheek. Linh was right next to them, and Biana backed away so she could hug her twin. But Tam never let go of Biana’s hand. After holding each other for a while Linh finally took a step back, and Biana put Tam’s arm around her shoulder so he could lean on her.
Sophie finally took a second to gauge her friends’ reactions. Marella was smiling, anyone could tell that even though she didn’t know Tam well she was still glad that he was okay. Dex had a tear, a single tear, rolling down his cheek. He wiped it away quickly and smiled, flashing his dimples. Keefe was on the verge of tears. Sophie knew even though they fought, Keefe still cared. Keefe cared about just about everyone, and she could almost see the relief in his eyes that Tam was okay. Wylie was just crying. Not sobbing or bawling, just quietly crying. Tears silently rolled down he cheeks, but his grin proved that they were happy tears. Sophie felt a few tears of her own drip down her face, even though she had known about this. At some point Fitz had pulled her into a side-hug, and she glanced up at him, then reached over to wipe the tear off his face.
Tam seemed to be smiling more than any of them. "Aw, why all the crying?" He asked, even though it was obvious how much of a hypocrite he was being in that moment. Tam looked over his shoulder at Elwin, who nodded in response. He shifted his weight and leaned on Biana a bit more. "Let’s go for a walk."
