Y'all, I'm sorry. It's been a busy week. School has been insane, and then life happens on top of that. So plz font hate me, or any other time I'm late to update. Anyways, its spirit week at my school and Friday you can dress up from a fandom. I'm full on going to school as Annabeth and no one can stop me. I would do Sophie, but I dont have the stuff to do that. So, yeah. Have a good week! And, as always, enjoy

Tarina beat Sophie to the cliff, and out of pure revenge Sophie cut the whole, tear-a-rift-in-the-sky thing a little too close for the troll's comfort. As soon as she got home she took a longer shower then she probably needed to, thinking about what Fitz had said. What if something really was wrong with her? By the time she was done the sun was fully set and she pulled out her old Spyball. It was a gift from the Black Swan, but if anyone found out that she owned an unregistered Spyball then she would be in a whole other world of trouble. "Show me Natalie Freeman." She whispered. The Spyball suddenly show an image of Sophie's sister, tucked into her laveneder bed sheets with their new-ish dog laying at her feet. Sophie couldn't help but smile, Natalie-or..Amy was okay. Therefore she would be okay too. WIth that she wrapped the Spyball back up in the silk draping it came with. She curled up under her covers and replayed the memory of Fitz's lullaby, drifting slowly off to sleep.
The entire night was, slightly more restless than the others. It was filled of herself dreaming about what could be wrong. Truth be told, she usually didn't have dreams of paranoia, but she was glad to wake up. The majority of the morning was uneventful, unless you count that Iggy decided to have some rather disgusting diarrhea over the night and she had lost the cage-cleaning-bet. Somewhere around noon, after Grady and Edaline had gone out into the pasture to deal with the new verminion, the doorbell rang. Sophie went to answer the door, surprised at who was waiting for her. "Dex? Keefe?" She asked, failing at disguising her surprise.
"Why hello to you too." Keefe smirked, a hand covering his left eye.
"What's up?" She asked, stepping aside to let them in. Keefe kept his hand covering his eye as they went upstairs into Sophie's room.
"Sorry for not hailing you first." Dex smiled, sitting at Sophie's desk. He then glanced over at Keefe and gave a hard sigh. "Show her already." He almost commanded.
"Show me what?" Sophie asked, making Keefe shoot a glaring look at Dex.
"It's not like you can really keep it a secret from her." Dex merely shrugged back.
"Fine." Keefe grumbled. "But before I do, I promise it's really no big deal." He reluctantly pulled his hand down from his eye, revealing it to be questionably swelled and bruised. Sophie sucked in a sharp breath.
"What did you do?" She asked.
"Please don't get mad... but I went after my mom."
"You WHAT!?" Sophie yelled. " I thought you promised me that you wouldn't do that stuff alone anymore."
"I know, I did. But I wasn't... entirely alone. Dex was there too."
"Where? Keefe, explain. Now." She commanded.
"Relax Foster, like I said; it's not really a big deal. Are you okay? I am getting several strings of emotions coming from you right now."
"Nevermind me. What did you do?"
"So we're playing that game now? Okay, fine. But you have to explain to us why you're so tense as soon as I'm done. Deal?"
"Deal." She answered, not really looking forward to making more of her friends worry about her. "Now stop stalling."
"Who says I was stalling? Okay, I definitely was." Keefe admitted, cutting Dex of from interrupting. "Anyway Dex had come over yesterday so we could work on...an old project. And he accidently grabbed my imparter, the one only accessible by my blood, instead of one of the parts. He realized there was some sort of activity on the other end, so he hacked in and we caught my mom in the middle of a conversation with someone. No idea who tough, she never mentioned any names and we couldn't hack it that far. Anyway, she mentioned where she was and that Alvar had just left. She said something about how she was going to 'get out the rest and burn it down'. I kind of lost it and instantly ran outside and leaped to the coordinance she mentioned. Once I got there, I tried to confront her about Tam, but she was too quick. I barely got 3 sentences in before she said 'I wish you hadn't come here' and then it went black. I guess she hit me in the head or something, but I was knocked out cold. I fell on a rock, so there's the back eye."
"Don't forget how she gave you a few good old kicks in the gut." Dex added. "Probably just wanted to make sure you were really out."
"And that-" Keefe interrupted. "Is where the story ends." He shot Dex a death glare.
"No it isn't." Dex admitted, ignoring the look of hate on Keefe's face. Dex then turned and looked straight at Sophie. "By the time this happened, I had just leaped over there. As soon as I showed up Lady Gisela had just had her good old fashioned blow to the son's ribs and light-leaped away. The hideout was completely blazing by now, so I just grabbed Keefe and leapt away before the field we were on caught fire too. When we got back to Rimshire, I got him cleaned up a bit. I'm honestly surprised that the cut on his eye has healed this fast. Anyway, I found out that when Lady Gisela gave him a kick in the chest she broke one of his ribs, yet another reason for her to be the leading contender for Mother of the Year. By the time he came around it was nearly midnight, so I forced him to promise to come tell you the next day. Well, now it's today I guess. So, here we are."
"Keefe..." Sophie face-palmed. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"Chill Foster, I'm okay. Sure I'm a bit sore, but that'll pass." Dex rolled his eyes. "Now that you know our story, why so freaked out?"
"I'm fine guys, really." She felt her cheeks turn bright red as she lied.
"You're really not." Dex chimed in. "It doesn't take an Empath to tell you're really tense. No offense Keefe."
"None taken. Besides, you promised you'd tell us."
"Fine." Sophie sighed, then she plunged into the long explanation of what happened the day before at the Healing Center, then the events later on at Everglen.
"Wow." Dex finally said, after she explained everything. "And you don't know why?"
"Nope. But I'm fine. I promise." Sophie answered, silently wishing for a subject change.
"I don't know Foster. That doesn't seem very 'fine' to me."
"You and Fitz both."
"I'm gonna have to side with the Golden Boy on this one." Dex admitted. He still wasn't a huge fan of Fitz, but they were better now.
"Seriously, I'm fine guys." Sophie promised. Dex and Keefe shared a look that was almost identical to the one Fitz and Biana exchanged the day before. "So, is that the only reason you guys are here? Or..?"
"Not that I can really think of." Dex shrugged.
"Why? Got anything in mind Foster?" Keefe asked, and Sophie couldn't exactly tell what he was meaning. She couldn't help but grin, those boys have no idea what they just signed up for. Sophie led them out to the tool shed, handing them both a bucket and rake.
