Henlo my dudes! How are ya! I know, I know. I promised you an update a while ago. But where I had originally planned to cut off I wasnt happy with, and it took me a bit to find a better place to end the chapter. So, while this is short, keep in mind it was supposed to be shorter. Sidenote: Today(August 24) is Mr.Snuggles' birthday! A friend litterly gave them a stuffed dragon as a gift. So yeah, have a good day! Enjoy!
_________________________________________“You are so much like your father.” She smiled in a breathless voice, remembering her trip to Exile with Alden. He let out a sigh of relief and chuckled.
“Always an adventure.” He almost laughed, then his voice went serious again. “Are you okay?”“I think so.” She slowly pulled herself to sit upright, despite how oddly tired she was.
“What was that?”
“I’m not sure. But I feel the same way I did this morning, plus a fair amount of pain.”
“That’s odd. Does it still hurt?” He asked, his brows pressed together in concern. She debated lying to him, but she knew he would figure her out in about 5 seconds flat.
“Not really. Yeah it’s there, but it really isn’t bad.” She tried to seal it with a smile, but he still didn’t look convinced. “I promise. It’s no big deal.”
“That’s not what it seemed like.” Fitz shook his head. “Sophie, even you don’t collapse in pain everyday. And if that were to happen to anyone, it would be you.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that's not normal. Sophie,” He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “That could be serious. Don’t you think it’s odd how there was no external reason as to why that could’ve happened.”
“Are you saying that there's something wrong with me?” She asked, slightly hurt and scared. He shook his head and gently grabbed her hand.
“Not at all. Nothing you can control anyway. I’m just saying it might be something to look into. Especially if this is the second time this has happened.” He made a valid point, but she didn’t want to accept it. She turned away and bit her lip, because if he was right; what was wrong with her? “Hey.” He started, waiting for her to look at him again before he continued. “I’m just worried about you. If you got hurt, I feel like that's on me.”
“But it’s not.” Sophie promised.
“That doesn’t stop me from feeling that way though does it? Just like it doesn’t stop you from thinking that if something bad happens you think it's because of you. Even though it isn’t. Does it?” He half smiled, and she hated that he was correct once again. For a few seconds they just sat there, silent. Then Fitz asked something out of the blue, and it sounded about as loud as a whisper. As though he was only half wanting her to hear him. “Where?”“Where what?” She responded thoroughly confused.
“Where did the pain start?”
“I don’t really know, it hit pretty fast. But somewhere in my core...I think.” He sighed and ran a hand through his picture-perfect hair again.
“But you're sure you're okay? And don't you dare lie to me.”
“I’m fine.” She smiled again, he responded with a disbelieving look. “As far as I know anyway. If I’m not I promise I’ll tell you.”
“Fine.” Fitz almost reluctantly agreed, he then stood and offered her a hand.“Should we try this again?” He asked. She gave him a solid nod and grabbed his hand. He hoisted her up and helped her regain her center of gravity, then with her still slightly leaning on him they made their way to the hall. They were only walking for a little bit when Biana caught up to them.
