Henlo there people. I know I'm late, and I'm sorry, but life is getting busy again. Whoopdedoo. School starts for me tomorrow, so I'm kinda dreading that and getting ready for it to start. Hopefully once I get my student chromebook back from school I'll be able to write more. Thanks for being patient with me, so here's one of my favorite chapters I've written. Remember that big thing I mentioned? It happens here. Without further ado, enjoy.

“I’ll be waiting in the dining hall. Don’t you dare leave here without me or else.” Tarina half threatened again in a quiet voice. Sophie nodded then watched as Tarina made a way down the hall. Sophie waited until her bodyguard had turned the corner to announce her arrival to Fitz.

“Fitz?” She called, then Sophie heard footsteps come closer to the door.
“Sophie?” Fitz asked after he opened the door just a crack. “What are you doing here?” He pulled open the door the rest of the way and stood aside to let her in.

“Biana invited me for dinner.”

“She’s back?” He stuck his head back out the door as if she were just standing outside behind were Sophie was standing.

“Yeah. I met up with her when I came to see Tam after Livvy hailed me.” Sophie answered. Fitz shut the door and was walking to his bed when he spoke.

“Why did Livvy hail you? Is Tam okay?” He asked, motioning for her to sit next to him.
“I think he’s fine. But what I’m about to tell you, you can't tell anyone else. I had to convince Tam to let me tell you, and he was very clear he wanted no one else to know.” She responded while taking the set next to him.

“Not even Biana?”

“No. Not even Biana.”

“Okay, I promise. Now what happened?”

“Last night Gethen broke into Foxfire.”

“What did he do?” Fitz said the words with a tone of hate.

“Alvar wasn’t there, so don’t even start worrying about that. Gethen didn’t do anything that we know of. He just made a bit of noise and transmitted to Tam, scared him a lot, they had to sedate him to get him to calm down.  But no one was hurt, nothing was missing, and nothing was out of place either."

“So, that’s it? There was no point.”

“Not that we know of, yet. I’m sure we’ll find something soon.” After the words left Sophie’s mouth a slight silence followed. Slight, but awkward. Fitz must have felt uncomfortable too because he was the first to start talking again.

“I noticed you didn't need me to help you sleep last night. Please don’t tell me that was because you took a sedative.”

“No, no sedative. I replayed the memory of the lullaby and it worked like a charm.”

“Good. But you had me concerned there for a while, didn’t want you to be going back on your promise.” He winked making Sophie melt inside a little bit inside. Sophie let out a small near- chuckle, but smothered her thought before she said it aloud. “What?” Fitz half-laughed in return, no way was she getting out of this now. Though she would try.

“It’s nothing really. Just silly.” She blushed, attempting to avoid giving a true answer. Something about Fitz’s expression told her he wouldn’t budge, so she sighed and reluctantly explained. “Really, it’s stupid. I just, couldn’t really wake up this morning. I’m not sure what it was, but it really resembled a mild sedative. Like an uncanny resemblance.”

“That’s not stupid.” Fitz shook his head. “Are you sure you're okay?”

“Positive.”She said it with a promising tone, but he still looked worried so she decided to change the subject asap. “What about Biana?”

“What about her?” He shrugged, but he seemed to go flush.

“Oh come on, you're not blind” Sophie teased. “They’re cute aren’t they?” After she said it in a sing-song manner he went from sorta flush to straight out pale, the only color being his blushing cheeks.

“Seriously, I’m really confused.” He lied, wringing his hand together.

“She and Tam like each other. It is basically obvious”

“It is, is it?” He grinned, although clearly thoroughly embarrassed.

“So…..” She began. “Are you going to be all big-brother-protective of her? Or is that just a human thing?”

“I don’t...think...so. I mean; I trust Tam. I think he’s probably one of the best options Biana has.”

“But…?”

“But nothing. He’s a good guy….” Fitz looked at Sophie, and after seeing her face of yeah-you're-lying-dude, he gave in. “But if he makes her mad or breaks her heart so help me.”

“Woah. Easy there Fitz. You're not serious are you?”

“No, it’s just a joke.” He smiled, his voice barely audible when he next spoke. “Kinda”

“Just promise me you won’t do anything you’ll regret?” Sophie asked, though it sounded more like a command.

“I won’t” He answered, regaining his smile. She joined in, then Fitz stood and offered her his hand. “We should probably go see if dinner is ready yet.” She continued matching his grin and took his hand.
“Sure.” They only  made it a few paces from the bed they were sitting on when a sharp pain overtook Sophie’s side. She gasped and held a breath, her hands darting to her gut. She slightly wobbled but Fitz had already moved to steady her. The pain was still there even after she had taken several sharp, deep breaths.

“Sophie are you okay?” Fitz asked, tightening his hold around her. She made it through a half nod when a new sensation came right alongside the pain, neither quite strong enough to stop the other. Her mind turned an inky black and the familiar feeling of sedatives took over, the pain was there still, but not as vibrant as it once was. She felt her weight start to collapse as her knees buckled, even though she had no clue as to why. She fell into a kneeling position, still taking sharp breaths, with Fitz on the floor with her. “Sophie, you're scaring me.” She tried to talk, tried to promise she was fine, but it wouldn’t work. Not yet. The pain was slowly fleeting and the feeling of drowsy narcotics slowly crept nearer. Just when she thought she was about to fall under the familiar drug, it was held back. Like it wanted to finish the job but didn’t quite have the resolve to do it. Gradually, all that was left behind was a slight bit of ache and sedative-like exhaustion. She forced her breaths to go deeper and her head to clear as Fitz sat down next to her, he pulled her to lean up against his shoulder.
