Dont worry, I hate me too. Sorry guys, I've been meaning to update earlier, I didnt realize it had been a month since my last update. I have summer school rn (this is the last week of it) and we have to finish 2 units (about 30+ lessons) a week. I've also had other stuff to work on around the house. On top of that, I'm getting a bit of writers block with Tourment. I dont have to same amount of time or motivation to write it anymore. I know where the story is gonna go, I'm just having a hard time getting there. Because of that I dont have that much content left (which is also why this is a shorter chapter). Plus it feels kinda weird to be posting right now, with everything going on in the world. I almost didnt post today, but I realized that it would probably be nice to have something to take your mind off the world, I hope my story can do that for you. As an added bonus for waiting so long, I updated the cover for this story. It's the same thing, I just drew the og cover a year ago and figured it was time for a change. Anyway, I'm really sorry everyone, I wish I would have realized how long it had been earlier.
Sorry for the long wait, I'll try not to let it happen again. Highlight try. Ok, that's it, without further aduo:
Enjoy.
_____________________________________________Biana was the first to see them when they caught up to the group. She saw them and offered a soft smile, nuding Tam to get his attention. He did the same, and the others followed when he and Biana met Dex, Fitz, and Sophie halfway. Sophie offered them a smile, one that most people returned.
“Well, nice to see you decided to wake up this fine afternoon Foster,” Keefe smirked. Sophie wanted to roll her eyes, but stopped when she caught the fact that the sun was shining down on them from the middle of the sky.
“You guys stayed here all night?” she asked. She looked at her friends as they shrugged, as if them staying at Foxfire all night just to wait for her to wake up was no big deal.
Their expressions seemed to say “Yeah, sure. What of it? Just another tuesday around here.” She felt a sense of pride and honor well into her chest. Her friends were willing to stay all night to wait for her to wake up, just so they would be there when she did. She couldn’t help but wonder what she’d done to deserve them. Whatever the reason, she was glad to have them. “You really didn’t have to do that.”
“Yeah. But we did.” Keefe flashed his famous smirk. “And we should seriously keep a tally of how many times Foster tells us we don’t have to do something for her.”
“I agree,” Fitz said from beside her while discreetly grabbing her hand. Sophie wanted to grab his hand and wrap his arm around her shoulders, but held herself back. She had something else to do. Something she had planned to do as soon as Tam woke up. The sedation kind of threw off that plan, but it didn’t change the fact that this needed to happen.
Tam, we need to talk, She transmitted. He established eye-contact and subtly nodded.
“Hey guys,” Elwin said while walking out to meet them. Sophie silently applauded his impeccable timing. “I hate to break up the party, but it’s probably best if we give Tam a break.” Tam’s expression made it clear how much he was resisting the urge to argue. Elwin looked directly at Tam, “It’s been several hours of being on your feet. Do you really want to risk pushing yourself too far and setting back your progress?”
"No,” Tam muttered in agreement. He met her eyes and gave her hand a squeeze, then let go and walked over to Elwin. Or tried to, at least. He almost fell over when he was by Sophie, being just close enough for her to catch him. She helped him regain his balance and let him lean on her.
Smooth Tam, she transmited, noticing that he’d done that intentionally. That way they could get away from everyone to talk without anybody getting suspicious. Very smooth.
“Thanks,” He shadow-whispered back.
“I’ll meet you guys back at Havenfield,” Sophie told the rest of the group. She noticed a few questioning looks, especially from the two Vackers present. “I’m just going to give Tam a hand on the way back, I’ll be home before you know it.”
Biana was about to add something when Elwin cut her off. “Sounds good to me, Livvy wanted to talk to you about something anyways.” She nodded to her friends and smiled, stealing a glace a Fitz.He looked, well she didn’t know how to describe it. His face was a mix of concern, confusion, and maybe a little bit of hurt. For some reason it made her cheeks burn.
I’ll fill you in when I get home, She transmitted. He snapped out of his thoughts and met her eyes, nodding.
She then turned to Tam and tilted her head towards Foxfire. Tam took the hint and started walking, leaning heavily on Sophie. Elwin came up right next to them as all three began to make their way back to the Healing Center.
