Ice cream

"Why are we standing here?" Jade asked Charlotte who was waiting by her locker after school.

"Yeah, come on let's go home," Owen said.

"In a minute" Charlotte replied distracted.

"What's wrong? Why are you continuously tapping your foot like that?" Owen asked pointing to her foot.

"Nothing, I....." Charlotte stopped mid-sentence and a huge smile appeared on her lips.

"So?" Charlotte asked eagerly as Jace approached them.

Jace showed her his paper and Charlotte's face fell.

"I am sorry Jace" she apologized.

"Whaaat?" Jace laughed.

"I am sorry you got a B, I know you....." 

"Are you joking angel? This is the best grade I have ever gotten in math" 

"You got a B? Wow," Jade said impressed.

"Congrats man" Owen patted Jace's back.

"All thanks to my angel, speaking of, we should celebrate," Jace said excitedly.

"Ahhhh you have practice buddy" Jade reminded him.

"Yeah, but what do you say after practice, you and I go get some ice cream?" Jace asked Charlotte.

"Yayyy ice cream" Jade shrieked excitedly.

"uh, Ja..." Jace began to say something but Charlotte cut him off.

"That's a great idea Jace"

"Cool, will you pick us up after practice then?" Jade asked Jace.

"Yeah sure," Jace said trying hard to hide his disappointment.

Owen's phone vibrates indicating that he got a text. He reads the text and his face lightens up.

"Uh guys, I have something important, so maybe next time. Have fun, bye" Owen rambles before walking off hurriedly.

Jace squinted his eyes at his weird behavior, " What's up with him?" he asked Jade.

"Nothing, he just had to run some errands" Jade covered for him.

The truth was Owen asked Dani out on a date and she said yes but he didn't want to tell Jace because Dani is Jace's ex.

Jace went to practice while Charlotte and Jade went to Charlotte's house to work on their project.

At the ice cream place

"Why don't you go grab us a table while my angel and I will go order," Jace told Jade.

"Sure, don't forget to get me my usual" Jade said before going to find them a booth.

Jace and Charlotte go to the counter.

"Good evening, what would you like to order?" the lady at the counter asked them with a polite smile.

"uh, can I have one strawberry and........what do you want angel?" Jace turns to charlotte.

"vanilla with chocolate chips" she replied browsing through her phone.

"No way, seriously?" Jace asked her shocked.

"Something wrong?" Charlotte looked up from her phone.

"No, it's just that's my favorite too" 

"haha very funny, I know you are lying Norman. You are just trying to impress me" 

"No, I am not, angel" Jace insisted.
