Nothing was said at school on monday about the fight. and Becky and Seth didn't being up what had happened on her front steps either. they were too focused on finishing their senior year strong.
Before they knew it, it was finals week... their very last final that week was on Wednesday.... Their swimming test for their final gym grade... "if i dont graduate because of a stupid P.E. grade" becky said "im gonna scream!"
Tuesday the first half of the swimming final was administed and Seth was nervous as Mr.Anderson called out "victim" and becky jumped into the pool from the diving board.. then he looed at seth and said "rescuer" seth jumped off the board into the water and swam over to beckay and swam her over to the saide to safety and got her out of the pool. "thats our last pair for the day" Mr Anderson said.. "see you tomorrow morning at 7am for the final part of the test.. class dismissed."
"you did great!" Becky told him "you were pretty good yourself" he said. they headed to their respective locker rooms to shower and then he gave her a ride home from school. "where are Roman and Dean she asked him.. "Roman got a car" he told her and Dean had a dental appointment.
"i can't believe mr anderson got shane o to help dean out so he will hopefully pass the class" she said. "that was pretty funny" seth said. as he stopped out in front of her house he asked if she needed a ride to school the next morning... "no" she told him "i'll ride to school with Char, but i'll need a ride home if its not too much trouble-- she has finals all day tomorrow.
"its not a problem at all" he told her.. "i'll see you tomorrow" Seth headed home and grabbed his gym bag, and went and worked out for a couple hours. as he relaxed and played video games he couldn't stop thinking about Becky.
Seth was nervous as he stood at the side of the pool as the class waited for Mr Anderson to come in and start the class. " i just don't know how becky is going to get me out of the pool on the side." he said to dean. "i don't think she is strong enough"
Mr Anderson came in and began testing everyone after attendance was taken. before long it was Seth and Becky's turn. "victim" Mr Anderson called out as Seth jumped off the board into the pool....... "rescuer" he called out as becky jumped into the water. she surface and swam quickly to seth and got him safely to the side of the pool and then out of the water.
Seth sat there as the las pairs finished their tests, and was amazed that becky was actually strong enough to get him out of the water. after the last test was finished, Mr Anderson said they had all done very well, and told them all to have a great summer, and wished the seniors in the class well. then he dismissed the class for the last time that school year.
Seth and Becky headed to their locker rooms to shower quickly as they had to go to their homeroom to get their caps and gowns, and Mr.slaughter was beyond strict when it came to being on time.
caps and gown were passed out after the bell rang and final instructions were given for the graduation ceremony that evening. the seniors that had finished all their finals were then dismissed and those that hadn't along with the underclassmen had to stay in homeroom.
They met up with Dean in the parking lot, and he said "we did it, we are outta here!!!" Becky and Seth just laughed. then he added "but why the hell do i have to wear a dress? im a dude!!"
"its a graduation gown not a dress you nimrod!!" Roman hollered as he pulled up next to them. Dean got into the car and Roman said to Seth and Becky "we will see you guys tonight" "See ya then" Seth said.
"So, when do you leave to go back to Ireland?" he asked Becky. in two weeks." she said "the day after your graduation party." "i can't wait to see my parents and even my bratty arse of a brother." she said with a laugh.
Seth was quiet as they walked to his car, and he really didn't say anything on the drive to her house. he dropped her off and headed home, the house was quiet when he got since his mom was running a couple errands, so he went up to his room cranked up his music and zoned out as he tried to relax and play his video games.. but, it proved a difficult task as he had Becky on his mind and the thought of losing his friend was more than he could take and the tears he was fighting slowly trickled down his face...
graduation went off smoothly and the all night party was a blast! but Seth's heart just wasn't into it.. he threw himself into working out really hard up until the day of his party, Dean and Roman were worried about him, but , he couldn't tell them why he was so down in the dumps...
He had so much fun at his graduation party with his family and friends and a couple of his co-workers, that the time was going really quickly. as he went to grab another can of pop, he spotted Becky walking in the door, he smiled at her and she smiled back. they made small talk and then went to grab some food.
as they ate Seth asked Becky if she wanted to hang out with him after the party. "i'd like that" she said. but, i can only be out till around 10 or so since i need my sleep for my longday tomorrow.
After Seth's party ended he and becky went to the park and hung out in one of the gazeebos and talked. "its going to be weird not having you around ya little firecracker" seth said laughing. "who's gonna keep us in line now?"
"my address and phone number are in the graduation card a brought to your party" she said "i hope we can keep in touch." "i'll try my best" he told her. as the shadows lengthened he and Becky headed to a nearby pizza place for dinner."
Before they knew it it was nearing 10pm, So, Seth slowly drove Becky home for the last time. "i'm gonna miss you." he said "i'm gonna miss you too" she told him. if you are ever in ireland, look me up. "well, if you ever decide to come back to the states and you are in Iowa, look me up." he said. somehow they both managed smiles. "i'd better go in now, its getting late.
"Good Bye Seth" she said softly "i'll never forget you" "goodbye Becky" he said he watched as she turned to go inside, when suddenly she turned back around and gently pressed her lips against his for a few seconds then turned and went inside.
Seth was stunned as he walked to his car... "did she get caught up in the moment?" he thought "or could she be feeling the same thing for me i am feeling for her?" he drove home in total silence and played the last bit of their conversation and the kiss over and over and over in his mind until he fell asleep.
