True Love Waits

Chapter 14

(Becky couldn't wait for Seth to get home, even though he had only been gone a couple days for the Saudi show... she missed him, and with the time difference it made facetiming and phone calls very hard.. she did wake up to several texts and a couple messages from him.)

While he was gone she had found her dress and had a a blast shopping with Seth's mom, her mom, and Charlotte...  (even if she did  tell charlotte several times to quit trying to pick out dresses for herself-LOL!)  her mom and Seth's mom actually were able to alter the dress for her, and then his mom stashed it away at her place so Seth wouldn't see it....  "he can't see the dress until your wedding day when you walk down the aisle."  she kidded with her soon to be daughter in law.... and we both know how impatient he gets sometimes."  Becky laughed.  

When she went to answer the phone,  Becky's mom said quietly "i hope you remembered what you promised your pop lass."   Becky blushed horribly just as his mom walked back into the room.. "are you ok?"  Becky could speak,  her mom piped up  "all i did was aske her if she be keepin the promise she made to her pop before agreed to let her do the student exchange program.... and the lass turned red as an apple!"

Seth's mom gave becky a sympethetic smile.  "that was years ago though, but she is a very smart woman, im sure you have nothing no worry about." she said. Becky's mom huffed "jus want to be sure she hasn't been messin with your lad..  she promised her pop she wouldn't be with a lad till she was with her husband."

Seth's mom was taken aback by mama lynch's words.. and also slightly embarassed.   "you have to remember, they are both adults" she told mama lynch.. "doen't matter a promise to her pop is a promise." she said "if they been a messin around..... this weddin won't happen."  she said firmly.  "lyin to your pop an breakin your promise and his heart is an unforgivable sin in his eyes."

Seth's mom looked at becky who was on the verge of tears and hugged her tightly as the tears fell.  "now, see? you made her cry, after we had such a lovely day. mama lynch said nothing. "thats all i needed to know-- she knows she been messin with your lad and is crying in shame." 

"Mrs. Lynch" seths mom said "she is crying because you upset her.. not in shame!"   "and even if she and my son -who is the love of her life, and her fiance have been intimate..... they are both adults and we just have to accept that..." she continued.... "but, i also know my son Seth, and he loves becky and if he knows about the promise, i'm sure he will make sure she keeps it."

Becky just sat quietly watching both women  saying nothing at first, then she spoke "mum, Seth and i are both adults,  and we love each other very deeply... as hard as it has been since we've been dating and now, engaged,   we have not messed around." she said blushing....  "we hold hands, we kiss, we cuddle, and we hug... and that's it."   "he knows about the promise i made, and he wants me to keep it." she said.

 her mom said nothing.  it was then that Becky realized how late it was getting.  "we'd better head back" she said to her mom. they both hugged Seth's mom  and left.   as they headed back to Seth and Becky's house they didn't say a word to each other.   Dinner was quiet as Becky sensed her mother was thinking.   "look mum, i know you don't like it when i talk back to you-- but what i told you was the truth." Becky said. 

Becky's mom gave her a slight smile. "you've got fiestier as you've grown up" she said with a chuckle "reminds me of me when i was younger." Becky laughed "guess i learned from the best then."

The next morning when Becky got up, the house smelled wonderful!  as she went downstairs and into the kitchen she was surprised to see her mom had already made coffee and was in the process of making a huge batch of irish stew.. " good morning lass" she said with a smile  "tis getting colder, so i thought i'd make you and your lad up a batch of home cookin before i leave in the mornin."  "it smells so good!" Becky said sipping her coffee.  "porridge is keepin warm on the back of the hob, best eat it before it gets cold." her mom said stirring the stew.
