They made their way back to the apartment and Sam hung back. Grossman groaned. "Oh, man. What do you want?"
"Heard about your friend. That's bad luck." Dean stated.
Grossman glared. "Piss off."
Holly narrowed her eyes. "Listen. We know you hired someone to steal the rabbit's foot. A woman."
"Oh yeah? How do you know that?"
"Because she just stole it back from us." Dean replied.
Grossman laughed and Sam frowned. "Listen man, this is serio--" He stepped forward and tripped on a wire on the floor. He pulled a CD player off the shelf causing the CD player, and himself, crashing to the ground. He took out a lamp as well. Dean rolled his eyes.
"Sam, you okay?"
From the floor behind the couch, Sam answered, "Yeah, I'm good."
He pulled himself up and Holly held her hand up in a stop motion. "Stay where you are, don't move a muscle." She turned to a smirking Grossman. "I want you to tell us the woman's name."
"Screw you." Grossman retorted.
"Rude. Listen. A freak accident didn't kill your partner."
Grossman frowned. "What?"
"It was the rabbit's foot." Dean told him.
Grossman shot him an incredulous look. "You're crazy, man."
"You know I'm not. You saw what happened, what it did. All the flukes, all the luck. When you lose the foot, that luck goes sour. That's what killed your friend. And my brother here is next. And who knows how many more innocent people after that. Now if you don't help us stop this thing, that puts those deaths on your head." A worried expression covered Grossman's face. "Now, I can read people, and I get it. You're a thief, and a scumbag, that's fine. But you're not a killer. Are you?"
"No." Grossman whispered.
They exited the apartment block and Dean's phone started ringing. Dean answered, stepping over gum. Sam, unfortunately, stepped in it. He glanced to Holly, asking for help.
She shook her head. "I'm not touching it."
"Scrape it off?"
"I have no cards on me, and I'm not seeing something that will successfully get it off. You stepped in it, you can get it off."
Dean glanced to his siblings. "Uh, Luigi or something?"
Sam was still scraping his shoe as he and Holly answered, "Lugosi."
Sam pulled at his shoe too hard and it fell into the grate. He attempted to retrieve it, but couldn't reach. "Holly?"
She rolled her eyes as she knelt down and tried to get it, but it was too far.
Dean got off the phone to see Holly kneeling near the grate and Sam with a dejected look on his face. "What?"
"I lost my shoe." Sam muttered.
Dean looked down at Sam's black sock and let out an annoyed sigh. Sam hung his head like a dejected puppy. Holly stood on her tiptoes and rubbed his hair. "It's alright, Shaggy."
They drove back to the motel and once again, Dean was on the phone. "Alright Bobby, thanks. We owe ya another one." He turned to Sam and Holly. "Alright. Bobby's got it on pretty good authority that this Bela chick lives in Queens. So it'll make me about two hours to get there."
"So what are we doing here?"
"You my brother, are staying here cause I don't wat your bad luck getting us killed. And I'm leaving Holly with you since I don't trust that you won't do something stupid."
