The next couple of weeks went by without any bigger dilemmas. Traci and Kimberly had stopped talking to each other (yes it had come to that point), which made me think that this whole thing was actually much bigger than I originally thought. Traci refused to talk to Kimberly before she told her what was really wrong. Kimberly of course didn't tell her.

I am sitting with them at my dad's café doing homework and the silence between us is awkward to say the least. Thankfully, the people around us are talking so that makes the situation a little bit better.

Georgi told us that she was going somewhere with Max. They have been hanging out with each other for a while and she has told us a lot about him. How his hair is so black that it reminds her of the night sky... and so on.

I look up to see my dad serving a customer and when he catches me glancing at him he waves at me to come over.

"I'll be back in a sec," I tell my friends. They both give me a quick nod and then continue on with their work. I walk over to my dad who's now behind the counter.

"Is there something going on between the two of them? They seem awfully quiet," he asks with a concerned look on his face.

I take a deep breath and look back at my friends. They are acting like they don't even know each other.

"You could say that. They had a fight and now they don't want to sort it out."

A new customer comes up to the counter and buys a sandwich. When he leaves my dad answers me.

"Is there something I can do to help? I've had a few conflicts myself."

"Thanks for the offer, but I think they have to solve this one for themselves. Georgi and I have tried to do our best to talk to them but they won't listen to us."

He nods and rubs his stubble with a serious look on his face.

"I have to get back now," I say and make my way to our table. Before I can sit down I see a familiar face at the door.

"Hi guys." Georgi says and sits down at the table. "I was just with Max and-"

"Really? What a surprise. It's not like you have been talking about him all the time," I tease her with a smile.

"Haha, very funny Lacey. Anyways, I was with him and he asked me if I wanted to come to a beach party that one of his friends is hosting."

"And?"

"And, he told me I could bring you guys with me!" she tells us with an excited look on her face.

"Another party?" Traci inquires.

"Yes another party! Come on it will be so much fun! What do you say?"

"I'm in," I say and give her a big smile.

"Me too," Traci says.

"Kimberly what about you?" Georgi asks her.

"I'll have to think about it," she mumbles.

"Come on Kimberly, it'll be fun! We'll all be with you."

"I said I'll think about it." Kimberly sounds annoyed.

"Well the rest of us will go anyway," Traci says giving Kimberly a look. Kimberly doesn't notice and just keeps looking at her homework while biting her nails.

"Cool! I'll text you the address and we'll meet each other there."

At eight o'clock we meet at the beach. I'm wearing blue jeans shorts and a thin white blouse. A gold bracelet is fastened around my wrist. It's one of the few things that I left from my mom.

I don't even know why I wear it. It just feels like I should.

"I see Kimberly isn't here," Traci says with a displeased expression.

Kimberly probably isn't on her way either. She's always on time.

"It's okay. We can still have a good time," Georgi proposes.

We walk until we reach a big gathering of people. Most of them are sitting on some stocks near a big bonfire, talking to each other.

Loud party music is playing and some people are dancing to it. I can even see a few people swimming in the ocean.

Max greets us when we get closer and hands us each a drink from a table nearby.

"Don't get too close to the fire!" he calls before going off with Georgi.

I turn to Traci who has a small smile on her lips.

"Those two have really gotten closer," she says.

"I just hope he doesn't break her heart," I tell her.

I don't really know Max at all and it makes me worry, but then again I trust Georgi and her taste.

"If he does he better watch out for me. Nobody messes with my friends."

I laugh at her response. It's one thing that I love about Traci, she'll always be there for you.

"Is Boston coming too?" I ask.

"Yeah he should be here somewhere." she responds and scans the crowd.

... which means that I'm probably going to be left alone again.

"Traci!" we hear a happy voice from behind us.

Rachel is coming our way with a big smile on her face.

"What is this bitch doing here?" Traci mumbles to me. I shrug and take a sip out of my drink.

This is going to be interesting.

She reaches us and notices me. "Oh hi Lindsey!" she adds.

Why is it so hard for her to get my name right? It's not that hard to remember.

"Are you guys enjoying the party?"

"We just arrived," Traci tells her. She doesn't seem happy about Rachel's presence.

"Oh well I can tell you it's been amazing so far! I actually know the host. I met him last year..."

We listen to her babble for a while and I know that Traci is growing impatient. I don't know what to think about this situation.

"Rachel!" I interrupt her. "It's been really nice to hear about your... friend, but we really have to go and get Georgi now. Oh I see her! Come on Traci."

I drag her with me until we're far away from Rachel.

"I don't get that girl at all," Traci says when we sit down in the sand.

"Honestly? I'm pretty sure no one does... "
