Georgi and Max babble about some drama and I sit in the back of the blue Audi, third wheeling as fuck. We're going to pick up Lacey for the homecoming dance. The football game went great. Liam was really proud of himself, like every girl on the stand. Now he doesn't need to worry about the finding a date part.

Max pulls into the driveway and I jump out of the car as soon as it stops. The café doesn't seem to be closed yet. I push the glass door open and step inside the building. A man that seems to be in his mid thirties is standing behind the counter. He smiles and greets me. I nod to him and walk past him to the stairs. The man frowns.

When I reach the door to the apartment, I take one last look at my outfit. I'm wearing a black suit with a matching tie. Pretty boring, I know, but what can you do about it? Yeah, buy another tie and waste your money.

I lift my hand up and gently knock on the door. After a few seconds Lacey's head sticks out behind the door and her body quickly follows the action.

"Hey-" I say and take in the delightful girl in front of me. Lacey has a green, lace dress on and is breathtakingly sexy. A smirk forms on my lips.

"You are gorgeous," I announce.

"Hi," Lacey hugs me and I plant a kiss on her forehead. "You don't look so bad yourself."

I place my hand on her lower back and lead the way downstairs.

When we reach the ground floor, Lacey smiles at the man who's standing behind the disk. He studies me and gives me a death stare. I look away and we move outside.

"Hello Lacey," Max greets as I open the door for Lacey. Max is also wearing a suit which fits him well.

I make my way to the other side, behind Max, and climb into the car myself. Max starts the engine and we drive away.

Georgi turns to face us and points at me and Lacey one at a time, grinning. Lacey slaps Georgi's hand away, muttering something to her and blushing. A goofy sneer takes over my face.

I lean closer to Max and ask, "Did you remember the bottle?".

"Yeah, it's in my backpack." He gestures with his head to my feet and I pick it up. My hand digs until it finds the cold bottle.

"Nice," I let out and take a tiny gulp of it and then head it to Max. He also pours some into his mouth, keeping his gaze on the road, and then gives it back to me again.

"What is that?" Georgi questions.

"This, my lady, is a wonderful mixture of some good alcohol," I answer and show the bottle to her.

"Your lady?" Max questions with a serious tone.

"Calm down buddy, it's just a saying."

Lacey and I are standing by the buffet disk which mostly contains of cookies and cakes. The ballroom is packed with teeanagers dancing and singing along to the songs. I watch Lacey as she collects her food. She moves her red curly hair behind her ear every two seconds as it comes in the way.

The room is packed with girls in dresses of all different colors. You can still notice a pattern in the shape and model of them. The boys are mostly wearing basic black or grey suits. Some have put a little more effort and have tuxedos on.

In the middle of the ceiling is a giant disco ball which reflects for the most part blue, purple and pink light.

When we have everything we wish for, we carry our plates and sit down at an empty table.

"So, was it your dad today in the café?" I wonder and take a bite of a delicious chocolate cake.

"Yeah, I kind of didn't tell him that I had a date for homecoming."
