The cafeteria is loud. Freshmans are shouting as always. I'm sitting on a white plastic chair at a table with Max on my right side and Liam in front of him. Dylan decided he would stay home after the weekend he had been through. Can't judge him.

"Max you have a cellphone for a reason!" Liam calls Max out. He is still pissed, as I am, on the whole Saturday night shit.

"The battery ran out," Max tries to reason with Liam. I think that Liam is kind of tired of our group of friends. He is the softest one of us.

Suddenly Max waves to someone. I don't even need to look up to know who is walking towards our table, Max's face makes it pretty clear.

As predicted, Georgi sits down next to Max and gives him a kiss on the lips. Lacey awkwardly follows Georgi and takes a seat in front of me. She gives me a tiny smile which I return. Liam watches us and I look down.

"Did we interrupt something?" Georgi questions keeping her dreamy eyes on Max.

"Nothing special," Max answers.

"Actually, we talked about your prince charming being annoying," Liam protests, leaning with his elbows on the table. He is wearing a black t-shirt which is one size too small for him.

"Shut up Liam," Max says and gives him a glare. Good, now the two of my friends are both irritated.

I look over at Lacey to study her gorgeous face. She has her red shiny hair loose around her shoulders. Her long eyelashes shadows her umber brown eyes. My gaze travels to her lips. They are full and a beautiful shade of mauve. I tilt my head back up and see that Lacey is watching me with a curious look. I turn away.

"Sorry about Saturday," Liam apologizes to Lacey.

"It's fine. How is Dylan anyway?" Lacey wonders.

"Heartbroken... but the wounds are healing pretty good," Liam announces

"I understand, I hope he'll feel better soon," she gives him a sympathetic smile.

"Hi Alex!" Isabelle settles down next to Lacey.

"Isabelle," I say.

"Haven't seen you around in a while. What's up?" she asks.

"The same." I lean against the chair with my arms crossed. Isabelle scans over our table and her eyes lock on Lacey.

"Oh, didn't see you there." Isabelle lets out a small laugh and stretches her hand out between her and Lacey. "I'm Isabelle, nice to meet you."

"I'm Lacey, nice to meet you too," Lacey shakes Isabelle's hand, seeming a bit surprised about this sudden additional to the table.

"And you must be Georgi," Isabelle states and waves at Georgi.

"Yeah, pleased to meet you. How do you know my name anyway?" Georgi wonders.

"Come on, everyone knows the famous girl who stole bad boy Max's heart," Isabelle smiles at her. This conversation doesn't seem to interest Liam even a bit, he just yawns. Gerogi nods and begins to chat with her boyfriend all over again.

"So Alex, I've been meaning to ask you this but what are you doing next week's Thursday?" Isabelle asks me.

"I'm gonna hang out with Lacey," I casually answer and take a gulp of my water.

"What?" Lacey's head snaps up to watch me. I give her a look that gestures that she should just go on with this. "I mean, um, yeah."

"Too bad, we will have to do something another day then," Isabelle sighs and starts chewing on her apple.

It's not that I think badly of Isabelle, even though she wasn't the greatest kisser, I just don't have the energy to put up with a basic high school chick like her. Lacey is different.

"Sure."

I'm walking to my locker in the school hallway when I catch sight of Liam. I sneak behind him and look down at his phone that he's holding. There's a picture of some dude with green eyes and curly brown hair. Haven't seen him before.

"Who is that?" I ask and Liam jumps up in surprise and almost drops his phone.

"It-it's..." Liam struggles to speak for a second. He takes a few deep breaths before continuing. "Um, you don't know him." Liam avoids my eyes.

"And you do?"

"Yeah, well not really but..." Liam starts but I cut him off.

"Whatever, I don't actually give a shit," I state and scan the corridor. There are two girls who are pointing and looking at us. I lift an eyebrow at them and they start to giggle. I will never understand girls.

"Um so, did you wanna talk about something?" Liam wonders putting his hands in his pockets.

"No but now that you brought it up, there is something I have been thinking about," I say and look Liam straight in the eyes with a serious gaze. He is a couple inches shorter than me.

"And what would that be?" Liam still seems uncomfortable and a little bit nervous. That's kind of weird.

"Well I wanted to thank you for looking out for us," I thank him and bite my lower lip.

"Yeah, of course," Liam says.

"No really, you've been an awesome friend. I appreciate it," I put my hand on his left shoulder. Liam studies me for a second.

"Who are you and what happened to Alex?" He asks and I let out a laugh.

"Okay, that was all you get from my friendly side today. Now get your shit and come to Taco Bell with me," I nod towards the door. Liam gives me a smile. He opens the blue metallic locker and begins to pack his backpack. "Hurry up asshole, I don't have all day."

"You surely are moody."

"Perhaps," I shrug and close his locker. Liam looks at me with a question mark written on his face. "You can take your stuff later." I reach for his arm and start to drag him out of the school. I forget the fact that I was also headed for my locker in the first place.

"If you say so," Liam mumbles and we walk to Taco Bell.
