Somehow I can't stop thinking about him.

At first I thought I was crazy when I assumed he might actually ask me to go with him to the homecoming dance, but turns out, I wasn't.

Alexander Gray asked me to be his date!

Maybe I'm overreacting though, he probably just asked me as a friend. I mean that's what I told Georgi, right?

That we're just friends?

But saying those words in my head makes me feel... weird.

"Lacey!" Georgi shouts drawing my attention back to her. "What do you think about this one?" She's wearing a short golden dress. The upper part is covered in glittering sequins and the rest of the dress is just simple fabric.

"It's beautiful," I smile, because it is. It fits her perfectly.

"I think I'm gonna buy it," she states as she starts posing in front of a mirror. The dress twirls around her long legs as she spins around.

"I think Max is going to faint when he sees you," I tease her. She giggles and Kimberly smiles at her.

We're shopping for homecoming dresses. No, correction, Georgi and Kimberly are shopping for dresses. I'd love to do the same here but I know that I would never be able to afford anything in this store. Not if I need all my money for college, which I do.

Kimberly has already picked out a dress for herself. It's a simple, dark blue one with some glitter along the neckline.

"Can you help me tighten this?" Georgi asks and Kimberly immediately stands up from her sitting position to assist her.

I begin strolling around the store, looking at the different dresses and dreaming about what they would look like on me. A green one catches my eye and I walk over to it.

It's absolutely stunning.

The top part is covered in flower patterned lace and it has a belt of gemstones around it. I drag my hand along it to feel the soft fabric. It's close to magical.

I look at the price tag already knowing that the number will be way too high for me.

"Would you like to try it on?" I turn around abruptly to see a saleswoman smiling at me.

"Oh uh, I don't think so. I can't afford it anyway," I admit. My answer almost makes me embarrassed.

The saleswoman tilts her head and scans me. "I don't see the harm in trying it on."

I have to say I'm a bit surprised by her response. But I don't argue when she leads me to the fitting rooms.

As soon as I put it on I know that this is the dress. It fits like a glove.

I shouldn't have tried it on.

"Hey Lacey where are you?" Gerogi shouts from outside of the fitting rooms.

I step out of the one that I'm in and as soon as my friends see me their jaws practically drop.

"I didn't think you were going to try anything on," Kimberly says, sounding very surprised.

"I know, I wasn't, but I just..." I don't know how to finish my sentence. "I'm just gonna take it off now and then we can go."

I step back inside of the fitting room and quickly peel of the dress before I can change my mind. I'm already acting stupidly.

Georgi is already paying for her dress and Kimberly is standing directly behind her in the line.

I start walking back to where I found the dress when Kimberly waves at me. She walks over to me, leaving her place at the line. When she's by my side she holds out her hand.

"Let me pay for it," she says, motioning towards the dress.

"What? No," I respond, refusing to hand over the dress. "I can't let you do that."

"Yes you can. Just let me buy it for you." she pleads, her hazel eyes meaningful.

"Kimberly, you can't. Not after everything that's happened."

She takes a deep sigh, looking me straight in the eyes.

"I know you just wanted to stand up for me. You're always there for me, so can you for once let me be there for you?" she asks.

I hesitate. "I don't know when I'm gonna be able to pay you back for this."

"Lacey trust me, it's fine." She doesn't tear her eyes off of me.

Finally I give in.

"Okay," I say handing over the dress. "Thank you so much for this."

Kimberly gives me a big smile and goes back to pay for our dresses.

Somehow I have a feeling that this is going to be the best homecoming in my life so far.

Before I know of it, it's already time for the homecoming football game. Pretty much the whole school is here to watch it, teachers and students alike. It's one of those games that you watch even though you're not a football fan. I personally enjoy watching football, but I'm not super into it.

The cheerleaders are already lined up, doing one of their performances. I notice Rachel standing in the front and a few other girls that I recognize farther back.

Georgi, Kimberly and I take our seats next to each other. I don't see Traci anywhere. She's probably sitting somewhere with Boston's friends, waiting to cheer for him as he plays.

After about ten minutes, our team runs out on the field and everyone cheers like crazy, me and my friends included. The boys stand in a row and one by one their names are called out. We cheer loudly for each of the players but when it's Boston's turn I simply put down my hands. I refuse to cheer for him after what he's done to Kimberly. Liam definitely gets cheered on the most. He plays as a running back and I know he is one of the best players on our team.

The game finally begins. For most of the time we're in the lead. One of the players from the opposite teams try to run past Liam, but he blocks him almost effortlessly. The crowd goes wild and I hear the cheerleaders shout his name repeatedly, but he seems like he doesn't notice it.

I feel a tap on my shoulder and look up to see Isabelle standing behind me. The students sitting behind us give her annoyed looks as she blocks their view.

"Lacey right? Can I talk to you for a sec?" she asks with a smile.

My eyes meet Georgi's and she just shrugs.

"Okay," I answer with a hesitative tone. It's not like we've talked a lot to each other so I wonder what she could possibly want with me.

I follow her until we're standing outside the school, far away from the game. As soon as we're alone her smile fades off her lips.

"So what did you want to talk about?" I ask casually. Isabelle scans me up and down until her eyes settle on my face.

"You're Alex's date right? For homecoming," she asks.

"Um, yeah. What about it?" I respond, unsure of where she's going with this.

She crosses her arms over her stomach. "If I were you, I'd think twice before going there with him." Her eyes are stone cold as she waits for my response.

"Is that a threat?" I raise an eyebrow at her in suspicion.

"Depends on how you take it, but think about it. You wouldn't want to get on my bad side."

What the hell does she think she's saying?

Before I have time to answer her, she walks away and leaves me standing alone. I shake my head, pissed off by her words. Who does she think she is?

There's no way I'm going to let her words affect me. I'm going to the dance with Alex whether she likes it or not.
