It's Friday night and I'm at Georgi's house. We've been getting ready for Traci's birthday party for about an hour now. I'm wearing a golden dress that cuts off above my knees and my hair is hanging freely around my shoulders.
"I just called Traci," Georgi says as she steps into the room. "Boston and his friends have been helping her with the preparations for the party and it's starting to get really crowded in there." She's wearing a blue dress and her hair is in a pony tale.
"Okay let's leave then" I answer and we walk towards her bedroom door.
"Not so fast ladies," Mrs. Owens appears in front of us with a strict expression. "Georgina, you haven't cleaned your room yet."
I turn around to examine Georgi's room. A few black and pink blankets are laying on the floor and her white desk is covered with makeup products. Different dresses and other clothes are spread out over her bed. The room is a big mess, but that's what it's usually like.
"You will not leave until you clean this." Mrs. Owens motions to the mess.
"Mom please, I'll clean it when I get back," Georgi says, trying to sound innocent. Mrs. Owens crosses her arms and narrows her eyes at Georgi.
"Pleaaaase, I promise I'll clean it," Georgi gives her mom puppy eyes.
Mrs. Owens rolls her eyes. "Fine, but as soon as you get back you will start cleaning. Do you understand Georgina?"
"Yup, now we gotta go," Georgi answers and grabs my arm.
"Goodbye Mrs. Owens," I say before Georgi drags me away. I hear her mom mutter something about being more like Adam.
Adam is Georgi's older brother who's currently in college. He's always been the more organized one.
As we walk out of the house Georgi takes a deep breath.
"I really thought she was going to make you clean your room now," I utter and give her a small smile.
"I know. She was very close to doing so. Should we take the bus?" she asks.
"Are you planning on getting drunk?" I shoot back with a suspicious smile.
"Well..."
"Let's take the bus," I say and she laughs.
"You don't even know what I was about to say!"
"I think I have a pretty good idea," I smile.

When we arrive at Traci's the party is already going strong. The music is so loud that the ground is shaking and you can hear people screaming from the inside. Traci's stepdad is very rich so she basically lives in a mansion nowadays. The front yard is enormous and on the back of the house there's a huge pool.
Traci greets us when we get inside. It looks like she's invited pretty much everyone from our high school.
"You're here!" she shouts over the music and gives us a big hug each. "Where's Kimberly?"
"Oh, she couldn't come," Georgi shouts with an apologetic smile. "She had a lot of homework that had to be done!"
"Oh..." Traci says and looks down. The truth is, Kimberly didn't want to come because she's not the party type. She thought Traci wouldn't understand her if she told her that so she asked us to come up with an apology, and yeah, it looks like Georgi didn't do a very good job with that.
"But we have presents!" I shout happily and show her the bags I'm holding. She immediately shines up and takes the bags from my hands.
"Oh you guys are the best!" she shouts and hugs us again. "Do you want anything to drink?"
"Sure," Georgi shouts "we'll have two beers!"
"Coming right up!" She disappears in the crowd and Georgi and I make our way to the living room. Everyone's dancing to the music and we quickly join them. I don't party a lot, but I do enjoy it. The song "Party till we die" is playing and everyone's jumping along to the beat. I sing along to the lyrics and when the drop comes everyone jumps like the world's ending. Some couples are making out with each others.
Traci comes back with our drinks and I try to take a sip out of mine while dancing without spilling it all over myself, which is not an easy task.
"I'm gonna go and search for Boston!" Traci shouts. I can't hear her over the music so I have to read her lips. I nod and Georgi and I continue dancing.
Georgi points to a senior guy, I think his name is Max, and smirks at me. I roll my eyes but shout "Go for it!" She smiles and starts making her way towards him through the crowd.
I dance by my own until a few sophomore guys join me. I laugh at their weird dance moves, it looks like they're pretty new to this whole party thing, but they still seem like they're having a good time, and that's the most important thing after all.
Soon I'm completely captured by the music and I let myself forget everything around me.

After a few hours I get really tired of dancing. Georgi is still gone and I almost haven't seen Traci at all. I'm sitting on a couch, resting my feet and sipping on a drink. The people around me are playing some stupid drinking game that involves kissing and I choose to not participate.
Suddenly Georgi shows up.
"Lacey!" she shouts. "I just got the best idea ever!"
"What?" I shout back.
"A group of people outside are playing beer pong! We have to join them!" she takes my hand and drags me away from the living room.
"What!? I don't know how to play it! I've never played it before!" I shout.
"You'll learn! There's a first time for everything, right?"
"Uh I don't know about that..." I say hesitantly. The music isn't as loud anymore so we can talk pretty normally.
She keeps dragging me along until we reach a little group of people standing near a table. She lets go of my hand and walks up to Max. I study him quickly. He has jet black hair and what seems to be green eyes. His right arm is filled with tattoos and I notice a piercing on his lip.
Yup. Totally Georgi's type.
"Max this is Lacey, my best friend," I smile awkwardly and say hi. He seems to be a bit wasted as he greets me back. My eyes wander to the person standing beside him. I recognize him as one of the senior guys that usually hangs out with Max and his friends. His brown hair is styled with gel and he's wearing a black t-shirt with some ripped jeans.
"Hey girl! This is my buddy Alexander!" Max says and points to his friend.
"It's Alex," he says annoyed. He gives Max a glare and then he turns to me. His eyes travel up and down my body until they reach my eyes. He gives me a small smirk that's almost unnoticeable. I feel my cheeks heat up a little and look away.
"So you girls wanna play?" Max asks and gives us a big smile.
"Of course!" Georgi answers excitedly.
"Okay then, Alex and I take this side and you can take the other. But be aware, we're kind of pros, so don't go running back to your moms when we're done here," Max winks at Georgi and she giggles. Alex just looks bored.
"Yeah we'll see about that" I challenge them with a smile, suddenly growing more confident. I may never have played beer pong before, but I am a very competitive person. My comment makes Alex smirk a little.
"Let's do this!" Georgi says and we take our places at the table.
