As I predicted, Traci soon leaves me alone to go and look for Boston. I get another drink and sit down next to the bonfire sipping it. I feel like such a boring person sometimes. Around me people are singing and dancing to the music but I'm not in the mood for it. I don't even recognize anybody here.
If I only had one of my friends here. They always lighten my mood. I take out my phone and search for Kimberly's name.
'Are you sure that you're not coming,' I text her.
'Yeah, sorry about it,' she replies.
I take a deep breath and put away my phone. Maybe I can go and look for Georgi.
I pass a lot of drunk people on my way. Some are even crouching down in the sand, puking. I've only been really drunk once and it was not a pleasant experience. Maybe in that exact moment when there were no problems and everything was fun, but afterwards I felt like shit.
A blonde girl around my age comes up to me and takes my hand. Her breath smells like alcohol and she seems completely wasted.
"Have you seen Vivianne?" she slurs.
"No, sorry I haven't," I tell her. She suddenly wobbles and falls over but I manage to catch her before she hits the ground.
"Wow be careful," I say and widen my eyes. I manage to make her stand.
"Melissa!" somebody shouts in the distance. I turn to look at a girl running towards me and the girl I'm holding. Her long brown hair swings around her shoulder as she hurries over to us. She notices my confused expression.
"I'm sorry. She gets like this with alcohol," she apologizes.
"Oh. Okay," I awkwardly state, Melissa still leaning on me.
"Oh sorry. I'm Vivianne by the way," Vivianne grabs Melissa's arm and I let go of her.
"I'm Lacey," I say. Melissa mumbles something which makes Vivianne shake her head.
"I'll take care of her. Thanks Lacey," she says before walking away, leaving me standing alone. I shake my head and continue my search for Georgi.
A new song starts playing and everyone screams. I get closer to a mass of people dancing and try to get through them. It's hard to not get pushed around by everyone. When I finally get through I take out my phone again to call Georgi.
After a few seconds she answers.
"Hi Lacey!" she shouts. It's difficult to hear her because of all the music.
"Hi where are you?" I ask.
"Um, I'm by the big rocks. With Max."
"Okay are you two doing anything important? I'm getting kind of bored here." I look around to try to spot the rocks that she is referring to.
"Well we're kind of in the middle of something here," she tells me with a small laugh.
"What are you... oh... I get it," I feel myself blush a little.
"Yeah sorry Lacey."
"It's fine. I think I'm gonna go home, but I'll talk to you tomorrow."
She says goodbye and I hang up. What a great party. With a sigh I begin my stroll to the sidewalk next to the main road. Before I can reach it I see something shocking.
A bunch of senior guys are sitting together looking pretty drunk, but that's not the shocking part, some have blood on their clothes.
Blood.
