"So it was basically a date?" Georgi asks with a small smirk playing on her lips.

"No it wasn't," I protest. "We just hung out as friends."

We're sitting on the grass in the park, next to some big trees. It's a pretty remote area which means that we can talk in peace without anyone overhearing us. It's nice that we can all sit her and have a good time without Traci and Kimberly fighting. They still don't really talk to each other, but at least they still have fun with Georgi and I.

"Yeah 'cause friends sit and watch the sunset together," Traci winks at me.

"Friends can do that! We don't even know each other that well," I say.

"I'm pretty sure people do that on dates," Kimberly states.

"Whatever," I mutter and roll my eyes. I didn't have time to call any of my friends when I got home yesterday. I just went straight to bed.

"Well what did you think about yesterday?" Georgi.

I shrug. "It was a little awkward at first, but then I actually had a pretty good time," I smile and think back.

"And then your date got ruined by his friends," Traci rolls her eyes. She looks disappointed.

"For the last time it wasn't a date!" I exclaim. "And yeah it wasn't maybe the ending that I was expecting."

"What did you expect?" Georgi asks.

"A kiss maybe?" Kimberly smirks making the others laugh.

I snort. "No. I'm not sure what I expected, but not that," I sigh and lie down on the grass. The sun blinds me so I close my eyes, enjoying the warmth. "Hopefully the next time we meet it won't end like that."

"Wow what?" Traci asks with a shocked voice.

"You're meeting again?" Kimberly questions.

"Yeah we kind of made a promise to each other," I tell them.

"What promise?" Georgi wonders. I can hear her scooting closer to me and by doing that she blocks the sun from reaching my face. I open my eyes again to see my three friends all staring at me.

"It wasn't anything special. Just that I'd have sushi with him and he'd teach me to play golf," I explain.

"Okay," Georgi begins, putting her hands up in the air. "if that's not a date then I don't know what is."

"Yup," Kimberly concurs.

"Definitely a date," Traci states.

I shake my head at them. "You guys just won't let it go, will you?"

"Nope," Georgi says with a smirk.

"Can we just talk about something else now so that I don't have to be the center of attention? I suggest.

"Yeah like, how's things going between you and Max?" Traci asks sending a wink in Georgi's direction. At the mention of his name Georgi starts blushing.

"By the look on your face I'm pretty that things are still great."

"Um yeah," Georgi begins, clearing her throat. "He's actually asked me to be his girlfriend. Official girlfriend."

"Oh my god Georgi!" I exclaim.

"I can already hear the church bells ringing," Traci sighs with a longing smile.

"Oh stop it," Georgi says. Even though she tries to hide it I can definitely see her blush deepening.

Sooner than I want to, the weekend is over and we're all back in school again. My school day begins with me writing a test in biology. I've been very nervous about this since I started studying for it last week. Normally I'm pretty good at biology but somehow I've struggled with keeping all of the information for the test in my head.

I'm sitting at my desk, bouncing my leg up and down. I can't fail this test. I need to get the scholarship, and to get it, I need to perform good.

My teacher enters the classroom and annonces that we'll have the test today. Some people start freaking out and open their books like they had no idea this was coming. When everyone has finally calmed down and gone silent, our teacher hands us the tests.

As soon as I get a good look at the questions, I know that this will be hard. How come they always include questions that I haven't studied for? Maybe not always, but that's what it feels like right now.

I take a deep sigh before lowering my pencil to the paper.

"How'd it go?" Georgi asks me as I exit the classroom.

"I'm pretty sure I failed," I tell her with a sigh. She comes closer to me and gives me a big hug.

"It'll be fine. One test doesn't matter," she assures.

"It matters to me," I say, breaking apart from her. "You know how badly I want this scholarship."

"I know Lacey, but you still have almost two years to work for it," she says, trying to comfort me.

"I guess," I say, beginning to walk to the cafeteria with her.

It's the same as always. Teenagers sitting together with their friends and chatting about who knows what. In the distance I see Traci sitting at the same table as Boston and his friends. Kimberly texted us to say that she was sick so that means that Georgi and I will be sitting alone today.

At least that's what I thought it would mean.

"Oh look there's Max!" Georgi exclaims, waving at her boyfriend. He waves back at her and she steers her steps towards him.

"What? Georgi are you crazy!?" I 'whisper shout', grabbing her arm.

"Lacey relax, you know them," Georgi says.

"Um, no I don't," I protest and shake my head.

"Alex is there too," she says. "You can talk to each other."

"No! Not now and absolutely not here!" I object.

"Don't be such a coward Lacey, I'll be there with you."

She shakes off my hand and continues her walk towards the guys. I notice that there's only three of them today.

I can't believe I'm about to follow her.

Maybe I'm just overreacting.

Or not.
