"Okay, just give me a minute," I tell Lacey and head upstairs to take my keys and my phone. I open the door to my dad's bedroom and tell him goodbye. Then I rush back downstairs where Lacey stands by the wooden door.

I put my white sneakers on and grab my favorite black hoodie with me just in case we decide to stay out until the sun goes down, which I honestly doubt but who knows what this girl has in mind?

We step out of my house and I shut the door behind us. I analyze the car as we walk towards it. It's a red old Volvo S60, not too bad. As we reach the car Lacey turns to look at me.

"Do you know how to drive?" she asks, keeping her hands in her pockets

"Of course I do," I respond, smiling down at her. "But that doesn't mean I have a license."

"Okay maybe I should drive then."

"Fair enough," I state and Lacey opens the door to the driver's seat. I walk over to the other side and sit down myself. The benches are made of beige leather. Lacey fastens her seatbelt and I follow her action. She starts the car and begins to drive straight forward.

"How come you asked me to hang out with you?" I wonder after a few minutes of awkward silence.

"Well I don't have anything planned for today and the rest of my friends are all up to something," she answers keeping her eyes locked on the road.

"So you decided it would be a good idea to spend some time with a jerk?"

"Well, it's not like I've never made any bad decisions," she states.

"Hopefully this won't be one of them," I sigh as I look down on my tattoo. "You never know what's gonna happen."

"I guess so," she glances at me but turns quickly away.

I tilt my head to look out of the window as our conversation dies out. We drive past the sea and something catches my eyes. I narrow them to get a better look at the sign. It reads "Rent a waverunner! Only 100 dollars an hour!". That sounds like a lot of fun.

"You aren't afraid of water now are you?" I ask excited.

"No? Why?" She seems confused.

"Pull over," I simply reply.

"Okay... " Lacey says, uncertain if she should trust me or not. At last she still decides to do like I told her to. When the car stops I immediately jump out of it and run to the other side and open the door for Lacey. She has just shut off the engine when I grab her arm and drag her with me. I close the red door behind us with my right foot.

"What are you doing?" Lacey wonders, confused on this whole situation.

"What does it seem like?" I question but continue to talk before she has the time to answer. "I'm kidnapping you."

"I can't tell if you're being serious or not."

"You will find out soon enough." I let out a laugh and tighten my grip. The walk doesn't take long. We arrive at the waverunner center and comprehension washes over Lacey's face.

"No way, I'm not getting on one of those things" she announces and shakes off my grip so that she can put her arms across her stomach.

"Come on, don't be so fucking lame," I say annoyed. I really want to hop on one of those waverunners and just drive away in peace.

"I am not being lame! Do you know how dangerous those are?"

"You don't trust me?" I try to sound offended but fail with my smile shining through.

"I don't know, should I?" she asks, still standing at the same position.

"I will pay," I say, ignoring her question and pushing her forward. Lacey seems unsure but doesn't fight me back this time.

We approach the ticket sale. An old man with beard and a blue t-shirt which says Save the whales stands behind the desk leaning on it with his elbows. He looks utterly bored.

"Hi, we would like to rent a waverunner," I state and the man's head snap up.

"Sure, what sizes should the life jackets be?" He asks pendling with his eyes between Lacey and I.

"L for me," I answer and move my gaze over to Lacey who still hesitates over this waverunner thing.

"I'll have an S I guess," Lacey says and adjusts her shirt. The old man nods.

"Be right back," he announces and disappears.

"Are you excited?" I question.

"I've never done this before."

"Me neither but it can't be that hard," I utter. Lacey widens her eyes and gulps.

"What?" Her voice sounds alarmed.

"I've..." I start but trail off when the salesman returns with the vests in his hands.

"Here you go." He hands them to us and drops the key on the plastic counter. "It's number 78."

I rapidly pay and we walk to the wharf where the waverunners are located. I scan for number 78. There it is. It's a blue Suzuki. I step down on it and put the key in.

"Who drives first?" I ask Lacey who stands on the wharf.

"You can start."

"If you say so," I sit down on the machine and nod towards the back. "Hop on."

Lacey carefully steps down. She swings her right leg over the saddle and puts her arms around my waist. My body warms up from her touch and a smile creeps down on my face. Good thing she is behind me and can't see my stupid smirk.

"Ready?" I ask.

"Just don't drive too fast." I'm pretty sure that she has her eyes closed considering how scared she sounds.

"Here we go!" I shout and twist the handle. The waverunner jerks and starts to move forward with full speed. Lacey screams and squeezes her arms tighter around my body. I drive through some waves which makes the waverunner lift from the sparkling water surface.

The sun is shining bright and not a single cloud is seen on the sky. The horisont is beautiful. I can see a dog running to the water in the distance. The trees on the islands around us are full of green leaves.

I glance behind me to make sure Lacey hasn't fainted or anything, and as I predicted her eyes are shut.

"Open your eyes so that I know you're still alive," I command and turn back to look where we're going.

"Wow. This isn't too bad after all," Lacey expresses when she finally gets the gut to take in the environment.

"Told ya."
