The girl leans closer to me, ready to plant a kiss on my lips. She closes her eyes but I can't quite get myself to do it yet. My gaze is elsewhere. Lacey is sitting cross legged in her Little Red Riding Hood costume. She seems weirdly calm. Her face doesn't show any expression at all.

Just as the brunette's and my lips are about to meet, Lacey jumps up from the ground. She stalks off, not looking back.

Without my permission, my body decides to do the exact same thing. The brunette looks disappointed and even a bit embarrassed. Everyone in the circle is staring right at me.

"What the fuck are y'all looking at?" I give them all a death glare before running after Lacey.

I start pushing people out of the way, not caring if anybody gets hurt. My only thought at the moment is Lacey. My eyes search for a redhead. The dudes are pretty tall so it's hard to spot her amongst the crowd. Fuck, why does she have to be so fucking short?

After a few seconds, I hear the front door open. My gaze automatically snaps towards it. Lacey steps out of the house and slams the door shut with a 'bang'. Crap, crap, crap.

I continue to battle my way towards the front door, which by the way isn't the easiest task as I wobble from side to side from the drinks I've had. When I reach the door, my shaky hands begin to unlock it. It doesn't go that well. I'm breathing heavily as I finally get this stupid mother fucking door open.

Lacey rushes down the driveway. I sprint after her, again trying not to fall. I have no fucking clue what I'm going to say to her. Hell I don't even know why I'm running after her if I'm being completely honest.

"Lacey!" I shout. Lacey stops in her tracks and glances back over her shoulder. At the sight of me she shakes her head and keeps walking away. "Fuck, Lacey, just wait!"

"Go away Alex!" she calls out, keeping her gaze in front of her. Hearing my name come out of her mouth makes me weak.

I raise my running pace, not caring anymore if I fall or not. At last I catch up to her. I grab her wrist and spin her around to face me. Her skin burns against mine. She narrows her eyes at me angrily, but I'm just glad to be this close to her again.

"What do you want?" she snaps, yanking her hand away from mine. I drag my hand over my face. What do I want?

"I-, I don't know," I truthfully tell her, looking straight into her eyes. I love those eyes. Just the sight of them gives me goosebumps.

"Then why are you here? Shouldn't you be inside, kissing that girl like everything's fine?" Her words sting like hell. I bite my bottom lip.

"Yes, yes I should." I try to make sense of my thoughts. Why did I have to drink this much? "But she's not you."

"Really? I didn't notice." She begins to turn away again and I start to panic.

"I'm sorry!" I cry out, feeling hopeless.

"Sorry doesn't help," she spits out.

"I fucked up! I've fucked up so many times now. I keep hurting you and that's exactly why I should stay away from you. But-, but I just can't." My intoxicated brain decides to say.

"And?"

I hesitate before letting out the following words. "I love you."

The words scare the hell out of me, but I'm still dead sure of them. I've never loved anyone. I didn't think I was capable of loving another human being, capable of giving my heart away for another to keep.

"No you don't." Her eyes starts to water. "If you did you wouldn't have just left me like you did."

"How can I fix this?" I look at her with a pleading gaz, taking a step forward. My eyes also become watery.

"I don't know. I don't know if I can trust you anymore," Lacey says unsure.

"You can't," I tell her honestly. "I'm sure I will hurt you again. But I will do anything in the world to prevent it from happening. Just give me, us, a second chance."

A single tear escapes Lacey's eyes. I reach out with my right hand to softly wipe it away. I let my hand linger on her cheek.

"Okay," she whispers, lifting her eyes up to meet mine.

"Okay?" I repeat to make sure I heard her right.

"Yeah." She gives me a tiny smile. My entire face lights up.

I take a step closer to Lacey and stare intensely into her eyes. I lift my eyebrows at her as one last assurance that she is, in fact, okay with this. She slowly nods, and that's all it takes for me to press my lips against hers.

I feel her gasp, which only makes me want her more. I place my hands around her waist and close the space between us. Lacey buries her left hand in my messy hair and the other hand is leaning on my shoulder. My body starts to tingle.

It doesn't take long until her lips part. Fuck. It feels like my brain is going nuts. I'm feeling all weak and vulnerable at the same time as I'm feeling the strongest I've ever been.

My hand finds the hem of her shirt and slips right under it. Her back is soft and warm against my palm. Lacey tenses and I grin into the kiss.

This is so different from all the other girls I've made out with. It has only been sloppy meaningless kisses before. But with Lacey, crap, it isn't even possible to put it into words. Everything around me disappears and the only thing that matters is the girl in my arms.

I break away from her lips for a second and start planting kisses along her neck. Lacey's body relaxes by my touch. I stop at her collarbone and tilt my head back up to meet her eyes. We're both breathing rapidly. A smile is playing on my lips and I couldn't stop it from showing even if I wanted to.

I'm in love with this girl. There's no doubt of it. I love Lacey Emily Miller with everything I have.

Okay, fuck breathing, I need more of her right now. I lean closer to her and close the space yet again which makes my entire body turn warm.

The kiss gets more passionate with every second that passes by. I can't get enough of her. It feels so right, nothing has ever felt so fucking right.

I get startled by a sudden tap on my leg. I break the kiss and scan the sidewalk until I find the source of the tapping. I look down at the creature who's disturbing us. I'm met by a little boy in a ghost costume.

"Trick or treat?" A squeaky voice asks.

I give him the middle finger. Lacey slaps my arm down and I move my gaze back to her.

"What? This little fucker is interrupting us," I state like it should be obvious.

The kid starts crying his eyes out and runs back to his friends.

"Hope you learned your lesson!" I shout to the ghost.

"Alex!" Lacey stares at me in disbelief.

"You have to admit that it was a little funny," I smirk and stare at her perfect mauve colored lips.

"You probably traumatized him," she says, trying to hide the smile that's forming on her flawless face.

"Probably, but this was worth it," I tell her and meet her lips all over again.
