What just happened?

I'm sitting at the bus station, waiting to go home.

Why did I spend the night at his house? I should've known that it would end up being awkward.

'This has been nice.' Ahh why am I such an idiot? Why did I say that?

The bus finally comes and I get a seat in the back. The sun is shining and it makes the bus hot. I look outside the window as the bus starts going. Alex's neighbourhood is much wealthier than mine. There are mostly big houses and almost no high-rises.

Good thing that the rest of his family weren't home, that would have been a disaster.

Speaking of disasters, what's my dad going to say about this? He's obviously going to want to know where I've been and what should I tell him then?

That I slept over at a boy's house?  Would he lock me inside the apartment and never let me out again?

Probably not, but he wouldn't be pleased about it.

When the bus arrives at my stop I hop out. I walk for a bit until I reach the café. Before I enter it I notice my reflection.

Shit. I forgot that I'm still wearing Alex's clothes.

And on top of that my hair is a big mess.

"Okay just go with the flow. Improvise," I mumble to myself as I open the door.

As I make my way to our apartment I get a few stares here and there. My dad greets me at our front door.

Great. Just great.

"Hi Lacey, I was just getting some extra butter... "

He stares at me and his eyes widen.

"What are you wearing?"

Shit I need to come up with something. Come on Lacey, think!

"I-I," he notices my struggle and I try look like I know what I'm saying.

"This is my new look?" my answer pretty much comes out as a question. "Yeah. This is my new style." I try sound more confident this time.

"Your new look?" he scans me with a suspicious gaze.

I give him a smile that I hope is convincing enough.

"It's becoming a trend! Everyone's wearing this nowadays!"

Am I taking this too far now?

He takes one last look at me before turning to walk down to the café.

"I am never going to understand the teenagers of this generation."

I sigh out of relief and hurry into my room. The first thing I do is take out my phone and call my dear friend Georgi. Hopefully she isn't with Max.

I sit down on my bed with its yellow sheets and lean back against the wall.

"Please answer" I whisper as the phone rings.

"Lacey!" I hear a happy voice say.

"Georgi thank god. I need you to come over. Now," My voice is alarmed which I hope that she'll notice.

"What happened?"

Should I tell her now?

"Just come over and I'll tell you everything, and believe me, you're going to want to hear this."

"I'm on my way."

She hangs up and I walk over to my wooden closet to get some of my own clothes. I pick out a simple blue t-shirt and my favorite pair of jeans.

About twenty minutes later the doorbell rings and I rush out of my room to open the door. Georgi greets me at the other side of it.

"Hi, I came as fast as I could."

"Thank you," I tell her honestly. I quickly make sure that my dad isn't in our apartment and then drag Georgi to my room.

"Okay so you remember how I told you that I was going home after the party?" I begin and close the door behind me.

"Yeah what about it," she sits down at my desk, that is also made out of wood, and I go back to my bed.

"Well, I didn't go home... " I begin.

"What? Where did you go?" She asks with a frown.

And so I tell her everything. From the moment that I saw Alex to the one where I stumbled into my dad.

"You did what!?" she screams and stands up. The chair that she was sitting on falls to the floor.

"Shh! Don't be so loud!" I say and point to my door. She just gapes at me.

"You slept over at his house! Alex's house!" she exclaims.

I nod and bury my face in my hands.

"Oh my god I can't believe it," I look up to see her pacing around my room. She turns to me with an excited look on her face.

"Did you talk a lot?"

"Georgi! He was drunk! And when he woke up he couldn't remember anything about me from yesterday. Do you know how awkward it was to explain?"

She walks over to me and crouches until she's at my level.

"You," she points her index finger at me "Slept over. At his house"

I give her an annoyed look.

"Stop it."

"I can't believe this!"

I roll my eyes as she continue talking about how unbelievable my incident was.

She finally sits down on the floor and takes a deep sigh.

"Are you done?" I ask her with a raised eyebrow. She nods and smiles at me.

"So what are you going to do now?" she wonders.

"I don't know. That's part of the reason to why I asked you to come."

"Well you're going to meet again. That's for sure."

"Huh?" I ask.

She eyes the clothes that lie in a pile on my floor and points to them.

"Are those his?" she asks.

I nod and she shrugs.

"That means you're going to have to return them."

"Oh, yeah," I look outside the window.

"So I say, just do it and see what happens."

"I guess there's nothing else to do."

"Exactly."

She walks over from her previous place on the floor to where I'm sitting. We look at each other and slowly a smile spreads over her face.

"You slept at his house," she laughs.

"You're impossible," I groan and lie down on my bed.

And somehow, even though I try not to, I can't help but think about him when I close my eyes.
