Chapter 50

Arthit's POV

After eating at Nina's, I really didn't want to drive Red anymore. I don't know what Nina means by 'Just watch. You will see what I mean tonight.' Now, I'm so nervous, and I can't back out of it. I mean, how do I even tell Kongpob's mom I don't want to go. What if she decides to dangle me upside down? I mean I'm a grown man, but I doubt that will stop her. I shudder at the thought.

Kongpob just told me to ignore Nina, and don't react to anything tonight. These events are just a part of his social obligations. I don't have to go to anymore events in the future if I don't want to. Kongpob tried to reassure me by telling me he never takes a drink directly from any woman. Is that supposed to make me feel better? The thought that someone would even try to drug my boyfriend is nauseating. Nina told me not to take a chance if I want to keep my man. Such dirty tricks has happened before, but luckily Kongpob didn't fall for them. If I wasn't so stressed out at that moment, I would have even found their bantering funny. I'm glad at least Nina seemed to accept me, but what have I gotten myself into. Really.

Kongpob told me everything will be fine, and to just relax. I'm trying to relax, but I just can't. I also feel like Kongpob is not telling me something. He is usually really open to me. He would usually tell me things even before I asked. It's like he knows what I'm thinking.

We just parked Red back, and we are heading back into the house. Upon entering the foyer, on the entrance side table was a big white package tied with a black ribbon sitting on top of it.

"Here, it's for you." Kongpob hands it to me.

"How? Who would send a package to me here?"

"It's probably from my mother since it's inside the house." Kongpob just walked away like it's normal.

"What do you think it is?" I asked shaking the box.

"I know what it is, but if you like surprises, then open it to find out." Kongpob went to sit down on the sofa as he grabbed the back of his neck and rolled it around.

I brought the box over to sit next to him. I studied him carefully before I turned back to look at the box in my hands. I pulled on the black ribbon to untie it. I lifted the edge of the box revealing a white tuxedo with black trimmed lapels. There was a black bow tie, and a pair of black patent leather Ferragamo Salvatore oxfords.

"Looks like you're going be looking sharp tonight." Kongpob said picking up one of the shoes.

There was an invite folded inside the box. On the cover of the invite, Thai Red Cross 7th Annual Charity Auction Ball was printed on it. I opened it to look inside.

Be ready by 6pm. My driver will pick you up.

"Kongpob, do I have to wear this? It's too much." I turned towards him.

"It's very nice. Besides, I'm sure my mother picked this outfit to match hers."

I looked back down at the content in the box.

"How does she know what size I wear?"

"She has a key to my house, Sachi works here, Luke and Thak has access here too. So, it's not that hard. And honestly, there's probably nothing under the sun my mother can't find out if she wants to know."

"And what is this about her picking me up? What about you?"

"I usually go alone, but I will go with Nina tonight."

"Why?" I'm starting to panic.

"Why? Well, according to Nina, to keep the hyenas away." Kongpob laughed.
