"Kongpob, don't worry. They are expecting you." Arthit said, looking at his boyfriend.
Kongpob tried his best to smile, and walked about two steps behind his boyfriend holding a fruit basket in one hand. Arthit has insisted that he meet his mother and sister today. So, here they were, walking to the front door of the house where Arthit's mother and sister currently live. Kongpob had suggested going out for dinner at a nice restaurant, but Arthit said his mother is not comfortable going out yet. So, they decided to have dinner at home instead.
Kongpob has always been confident in everything he did, and even when he wasn't, he faked it till he made it. His motto has always been "if you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too." However, he's not sure if this can be applied to his personal relationship. He doesn't know if he can convince Arthit's mom to accept him. Not when everything he knew about the woman said no.
The Kongpob a few months ago wouldn't care about anyone's acceptance. A matter of fact, a few months ago, he wouldn't believe he would have a boyfriend. However, all that has changed now. He still doesn't care about acceptance for himself. He is still Kongpob Suthilak. The self-made youngest billionaire in Asia. Why should he care about this woman's acceptance? One word, one name, and one face. Boyfriend, Arthit, and smile. He doesn't want to see his boyfriend Arthit stop smiling.
Kongpob knows how much it means for Arthit to have his mother back in his life. He saw the love in Arthit's eyes when he talked about his mother's progress everyday. Even simple things such as her tying her hair on her own made him happy all day. But that is understandable. For a while, his mother was unreachable, stuck in her own world. It took a while to get her to respond to anyone talking to her. And recently, she has started to interact with people around her more. She still has ways to go, but it's definitely good progress.
So, Kongpob is afraid that his appearance may trigger a regression for her. Also, Arthit needs his mother in his life, and Kongpob doesn't want to be the one to come between their bond. Their relationship is so precious, and still fragile at the moment. He really doesn't think it's the right time to meet Arthit's mother yet.
Two weeks ago, while Arthit was sleeping on their flight back from Tokyo, Knot and Kongpob got to talk more about Arthit's past and family situation. Knot told him that despite Arthit's mother truly does love Arthit, she also has a hard time accepting Arthit's sexuality. Knot told him that Arthit's mother still believes Arthit can change. She still mumbles prayers for Arthit to become normal. Knot just wants Kongpob to be prepared for what may happen when they meet.
When Kongpob told Knot his offer to send Arthit's father to rehab and anger management, Knot shook his head in disbelief. Knot doesn't think Arthit's father will ever change, but he is more than happy if the man gets shipped off to another country. He said that if Kongpob ever saw what he had done to Arthit and his mother in the past, he would surely reconsider having mercy for such a pathetic excuse of a man.
Kongpob knew what Knot had said is probably true, but to him, he was not saving Arthit's father, but he was freeing Arthit and the rest of his family from their nightmare. The nightmare must end, and if he can keep his hands clean, great. However, he wouldn't hesitate to use any necessary means to get rid of Nawin Ronajpat if he refused his offer. But Knot doesn't need to know that.
And luckily, Kongpob doesn't have to seek alternative means either. Kohl Ronajpat, Arthit's brother had called him the following week after his offer to let him know that his father had agreed to go to Japan for rehab.
