Arthit's POV

After an interesting, and rather scary breakfast, Kongpob ushered me to leave for work. Sonya hugged and kissed Kongpob goodbye, and she nodded to me when we left the house. Thak didn't seem to be surprised by her presence, and if he was, he gave nothing away. We quickly got into the car, and drove off with Luke tailing as usual. I looked out the window pondering all my recent life choices.

Everything is happening way too fast. I can't believe I just met his mother. I'm still a little shaky from the encounter. I really can't tell whether she accepts me or not. All I know is that she is very intimidating with her piercing eyes, and her cold voice. I can see where Kongpob gets his professional persona.

I've never had to meet Chet's family, and I never had the desire to either. Maybe it's because my family would never want to meet him, so it was just fair that we didn't meet each other's family. He would go visit them during holidays, but he never once mentioned wanting me to meet them. But I was okay with that. One less thing for me to worry about.

With Kongpob, everything is so different. He says he is a private person, but I almost feel like he is an open book for me. He says and does whatever he feels, and has no fear of any consequences. He introduced me as his boyfriend to his mother with no reservations. He walks around holding my hand without batting an eye. He carries himself like he owns the world. I wonder what it would be like to be Kongpob for a day.

"Hey, what are you thinking about?"

I turned around to face him, and before I can even say anything, his lips were already on mine. My body naturally responds to him like second nature. His soft lips gently pressed against mine a few times before his moist tongue seeked entrance into my mouth. I tilted my head, and leaned closer to deepen our kiss. I could feel the heat rise up to my cheeks as my whole body starts to feel the warmth growing within. I softly moaned into our shared breath. He smiled against my lips, and slowly pulled away, leaving me breathless and wanting more.

"I was just thinking about us." I said with my eyes still closed.

"I like the sound of US." Kongpob smiled bright and warmly when I opened my eyes to meet his.

My heart skips a beat every time I see this smile of his. I reached my hand to cup his cheek, and give him a peck that was mostly for me as I still wanted more.

"Did my mother scare you?" Kongpob asked with a little grin.

"Maybe. Do you think she accepts me?" I can't really tell. Can he?

"It takes time for my mother to warm up to new people. And unfortunately, she usually doesn't make time for anyone. She runs several companies as well, so she is quite busy. If she wasn't so furious with me for leaving without telling her, she wouldn't have stopped by this morning."

"How did she find out you were gone? I thought you said Thak was covering for you, and Luke was diverted."

"Well, Nina called my mother saying I haven't visited her two weeks in a row. And that's really why she is so mad."

"Wow, your family actually keep tabs on you? Here, I thought you were a loner. So, why doesn't your mother and Nina like each other?"

Kongpob chuckled.

"I live alone, and spend most of my time working. But I'm actually really close with my family. I talk to my mother at least once a week, and I see Nina weekly as well. If my mother wasn't so busy herself, she would probably make me go home for dinner every night too.

I try to see my grandmother from both my mother's sides at least once every other month. As for my mother and Nina's tiff, it goes way back when I was a baby. When my biological mother passed, I was only one year old. My father was young, and too busy to take care of me on his own. So my birth mother's family wanted to take me home as I was what's left of my mother. They also felt that my father was so young, that he was bound to remarry. And they were afraid that I wouldn't be treated right. Nina was only five years old at the time, and she really wanted me to go home with her as she was lonely with a house full of only adults.
