"WE NEED TO TELL THEM FERGAL!" Enya yells at her husband, before getting light headed and sitting down. "Peppy, bring down the girls." Fergal ordered the elf who obliged to her orders.
Mikayla and Avery were told to sit on the couch, their mother sat in the arm chair and stared at their father pacing for the past 10 minutes. She sighed before turning her girls, "I have some really bad news." She spoke calmly obviously trying to keep her daughters calm. "I've been diagnosed with Stage 4 Leukaemia." Avery and Mikayla's hearts dropped at the news, "how long?" Avery asked on the verge of tears, "Next July if all goes well." She smiled, she's the strongest woman Mikayla has ever encountered. "We'll stay home this year, repeat next year." Avery suggested Mikayla was still frozen in shock, fear and sadness. "No, you have friends and plus I don't want you to see me get any worse than I am." Her voice wavered, as tears threatened to spill. "It's not fair, you're supposed to grow old, you're only 32!" Mikayla finally spoke and anger fill her, "These things happen sweetie. You two are going to have a really bad time at first but eventually you'll be able to move on." Tears streamed down Mikayla's face, her mother was the only person who made her feel safe, she's the only one who understood her.
Mikayla calmed herself down, "How do you feel? This is all happening to you after all. Are you in pain?" Mikayla knew that her mother hasn't heard this much by her reaction, everyone goes straight into what's going to happen to them once she's gone. "I'm a little overwhelmed, I'm not always in pain but I'm quite weak." Her eyes full of kindness trying not to worry her kids. "Are you afraid at all?" Mikayla further her questioning, Enya laughs shaking her head no, "Not at all because at least I have time to make sure you two are taking care of." Mikayla moved over to her mother and hugged her, as tightly as she possibly could as she shook in shock. "I Love You, Mammy, y-you've been the gr-greatest mo-mother to ever gr-graced this earth and I-I hope that o-o-one day I can make you p-pro-proud to have m-m-me as your da-daughter." Mikayla spoke shakily, her throat burned with sadness. "I'm already so, so proud of you, Mikayla and if you're happy with yourself or your achievements just know that I'm proud of them too." The two finally broke apart from the hug, tears still spilled in the silence but they weren't afraid to displayed their weaknesses so openly and all together. Mikayla is shortly going to lose her best friend.
It's been a couple of days since the shock Mikayla was given, they all try their best to continue with life normally, for Enya but Mikayla was crying herself to sleep every night because she was afraid that once she wakes up she won't have a mother anymore. "Mikayla, dear... Can we come in?" Enya knocks on the door, Mikayla grants her mother and sister entrance to her room. "What's up?" Mikayla asked patting a spot on the bed beside her. Enya takes a seat in between her daughters, and places the silencing charm on the room, preventing them from being overheard. "I need to talk to you about what's going to happen with you once I'm gone. And don't interrupt me, this is hard enough." She spoke smoothly, "Avery, you'll be staying with your dad, you are so similar to him it's slightly terrifying but Avery, you need to listen to Mikayla because even if you don't want to admit it, her decisions are always right. Mikayla, be your sisters moral compass. I've organised for you to move in with the Weasleys. You'll be safe with them and Molly will help guide you to the path you need to take. I know it's a horrible act from me to separate you two but I believe this way you will both grow into the women I would've moulded you into if I were still around." Once again the sisters were in shock but agreed to the terms their mother set in place. Avery walked out and went to her room to digest the news.
"I've made you your own vault at Gringotts, only me, you and Mrs. Weasley have access to it, this is to prevent your father from taking it. At the moment it's filled with all the money I possess and I'll continue adding to it until my last breath and then in my will, I'll be splitting whatever else I have left between you and Avery. Don't tell your sister about the vault, she responds to jealously badly." Mikayla nodded and promised to never speak a word of this conversation to anyone. Enya handed her daughter a necklace with a key as the charm, she told her daughter Mrs. Weasley had a spare and so did she. "I want just one more thing from you. For my funeral, sing a song for me, it doesn't have to be an original but I'd love it if it was." Mikayla hugged her mother, "It's going to hurt like hell not to get letters from you or hug you or just see your face when you're gone. but I have one request from you." Mikayla got the familiar feeling of burning in her throat, "I promise Peppy that when I moved out that I'd set her free, could you put like a t-shirt or something in your will for her because I don't think I could do it under the circumstances." Enya laughed lightly, "You are truly the purest girl, I've ever known. Always taking care of those who need you and the biggest heart ever possessed by a 12 year-old. I will fulfil your wish." Enya stood up, kissed her daughters head before leaving the room with a slight limp. Mikayla sat there for a second staring blankly at the door her mother just walk out of.
