"I'm going to check on Lupin, you wanna come with?" Harry asked as Mikayla laid on the common room floor reading, "Yes!" Harry chuckled at Mikayla's enthusiasm, offering a hand to pick her up which Mikayla gladly took. "He'll most likely be in his office." Mikayla stated as they walked out of the portrait hole. "Race you!" Harry shouted once they reach the DADA corridor, running ahead, Mikayla jumped into a sprint. "Eat my dust, Pottah!" Mikayla chuckles as she passes Harry out making a Malfoy impression. Harry laughed speeding up, Mikayla stopped out the room door. "Ouch, stitch." She groans holding her side, she painfully made her way up the stairs of the DADA classroom into Lupin's room. Harry goes to open the door, "Hello Harry, Mikayla." The pair shared a concerned look, as Lupin knew who was there without seeing them. "I saw yous coming." Lupin points at the marauders map. Lupin was packing, he took a pause telling them he's looked worse. "You've been sacked." Harry assumed, "No. No. I resigned, actually." Lupin tears up some paper throwing it into the fireplace, "Resigned? Why?" Mikayla questioned as they stepped closer to Lupin's desk, "Well, it seems that somebody let slip the nature of my condition-" Mikayla cut Lupin off, "by somebody you mean Snape." she was clearly angry. "At this time tomorrow, the owls will start arriving and parents will not want ahh, well, someone like me teaching their children." Lupin informed them, giving them a outline of the situation, "But Dumbledore-" Lupin cut Harry off, "Dumbledore has already risked enough on my behalf. Besides, people like me are.. Well, let's just say that I'm used to it by now." Lupin concluded, "This is so unfair. You've taught us so much more in this subject, than any other teacher we've had. And you're being ostracised because of something that you didn't choose." Lupin laughs lightly at Mikayla's anger, "As flattered as I am, Mikayla. The parents nor the committee will allow me to stay here. My condition is too dangerous." Harry was very quiet, "Why do you look so miserable, Harry?" Lupin questioned the boy who lived, "None of it made any difference. Pettigrew escaped." Harry spoke defeatedly, "Didn't make any difference? Harry, it made all the difference in the world. Yous helped uncover the truth. Yous saved an innocent man from a terrible fate. It made a great deal of difference." Lupin agreed calmly. "If I am proud of anything it is of how much you've learned this year. Now, since I am no longer your teacher, I feel no guilt whatsoever about giving this back to you." He paused pointing at the marauders map. "So now I'll say goodbye. I feel sure we'll meet again sometime. Until then... mischief managed." The map clears itself, Harry picks it up and Lupin walked out of his office, down the stairs, and out the classroom door, leaving behind two Gryffindors who liked him very much.
Mikayla carried her school trunk down the marble staircases towards the Great Hall. "Another year finished." Mikayla spoke sadly to Hermione, "And what a year it was, Gryffindor won the house cup and the Quidditch cup. Fred and I started dating." Hermione continued after Mikayla took a break, "Scabbers was Peter Pettigrew, I found out Sirius Black is my dad, and we saved two lives. Although, I'm going to miss Lupin, I took a liking to him." Mikayla agreed with the bushy haired girls statement. They met the boys in the Great Hall digging into breakfast before the long train journey, "Morning Freddie. Where's your trunk?" Mikayla asked pecking Fred's lips, "in our dorm, we haven't finished packing yet." George explains, Fred was sending mad hand gestures to his brother, trying to shut him up but George didn't catch on. "We leave in thirty minutes, go now." Mikayla pointed out of the hall, her voice was calm but the boys knew not to test her, they both got up and left the hall. "So what is your guys plan for the summer?" Mikayla sat down between Hermione and Harry, "Avoid the Dursleys as much as possible." Harry spoke poking his egg with his fork, "I don't know yet, mum and dad haven't said anything." Mikayla nodded at Hermione's answer, "It's the Quidditch World Cup this summer! Dad usually can get tickets from work, I'll see if he can get some for you two as well. Ron exclaims at Harry and Hermione, who both seemed really excited to go.
The foursome shared their usual compartment in the Hogwarts Express, they talked about the year and the exciting summer ahead. A tiny little owl kept coming in and out of Mikayla's view. It was holding a massive letter compared to it's body, Mikayla quickly opened the window, gently grabbing the creature and pulling it inside the compartment. The owl dropped two letters on Mikayla's lap before flying around the compartment crazily, apparently very pleased with itself. Mikayla hand Harry the letter addressed to him.
'Dear Mikayla,
I'm writing to tell you that Buckbeak and I are safely in hiding, just as I promised. I can't tell you where, just incase this letter is intercepted.
I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you, and how much you've grown up. The owl reminded me of you quite a bit, small in size but eager in adventure and I wanted to make sure you knew that with any small problem you may have that you can write a letter to me. Selene will find me.
You are definitely the perfect mixture of me and your mother, and I wish life planned out differently that I could've been there but I'm also glad I wasn't because I don't think you would be you if I were there.
Keep your friends close, keep your heart safe and never let anyone sway to do something wrong. Send my gratefulness to the Weasley's for taking care of you.
I Love You, Mikayla O'Brien.
Dad.P.S Please keep an eye on Harry, he'll constantly be in danger and as much as I hate the thought of you in danger, I know that you, like me, would die for your friends. Just proceed to the future with caution, and use your gift to guide the way.
Mikayla's letter was very different to Harry's, it was much shorted but a lot more personal. Mikayla reread the name, "I think I'm going to change my name. What do you think of Mikayla Black?" Harry and Hermione told her it had a nice ring to it, "Why bother? you'll be a Weasley in a few years." Ron jokes, causing them all to laugh. Harry read the P.S of his letter from Sirius, saying Ron can keep the Owl. "What do you think? Is it just an owl?" Crookshanks smelled the owl before meowing softly, "That's good enough for me. He's mine." Ron smiled brightly at his cute little owl.
