Some Sort of a Plan

"I always knew Salazar Slytherin was a twisted loony. But I never knew he started all this pure-blood stuff. I wouldn't be in his house if you paid me. Honestly, if the Sorting Hat had tried to put me in Slytherin, I'd've got the train straight back home..." Ron ranted as the foursome made their way to Gryffindor tower to drop their bags off before dinner. Hermione nodded agreeing with him, Mikayla stayed silent and Harry seemed off about the whole topic. They came across Colin Creevey who tried to tell Harry about something his friend in class was telling him but Harry stopped him. The topic of the legitimacy of the Chamber of Secrets and the things they spotted whilst surveying the scene a couple of days ago. They were confused about why the water covered the ground, "Well it happened right outside Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.  She probably threw a tantrum, after Peeves was saying mean things to her at the deathday party, out of temperament." Mikayla suggested to the group "We could ask Myrtle if she caused the flood and if not if she saw anything." She continued. "Mikayla you're a genius!" Hermione cheers before leading the foursome to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.

"Hello Myrtle, how are you today?" Mikayla spoke kindly, Myrtle sniffled in response before noticing Harry and Ron. "This is a girls bathroom. They are not girls." Myrtle eyes up the boys. Hermione panicked "I just wanted to show them how..eh.. nice it is in here." Harry whispered to Hermione to ask her about if she saw something on Halloween. Myrtle exploded in tears saying she wished everyone would stop talking about her behind her back, and that just because she is dead, she does have feelings. Hermione tried to argue that they didn't go there to upset her but, Myrtle didn't see it that way and trying to move on Mikayla asked if she seen anything funny on Halloween when the cat was petrified. "I wasn't paying attention. Peeves upset me so much, I came in here and tried to kill myself, then, of course, I remembered that I'm, that I'm." Myrtle struggled to spit out what she was trying to say and unfortunately Ron decided to help her out, "Already dead." Myrtle disappeared into the U-bend. Harry had just closed the door of Myrtle's bathroom when a loud voice startled them as it shouted Ron's name. It was Percy, his face contorted in to complete shock. Mikayla has never seen Ron as angry as he was with Percy at this very moment. They both shouted maliciously at one another, before Percy eventually stormed off.

They were in the Gryffindor common room as far away from Percy as possible. Once Ron gave up on his Charms homework, Hermione followed suit causing Mikayla and Harry to share a rather confused glance. "Who can it be, though? Who'd want all the Squibs and Muggle-borns out of Hogwarts?" Once Hermione asked this question Mikayla could also hear Ron's thoughts, he's convinced it's Malfoy. Hermione and Mikayla were the only ones sceptical over this conclusion, Harry added to it talking about his family's blood line. "If that's your logic, I could be the heir of Slytherin or my sister! Our entire family are Slytherin but me." Mikayla argued. They fell silent for a few moments, "There could be a way to find out if any of the Slytherins know who's opening the Chamber...." Mikayla plotted, Hermione caught on to what she was talking about, "Of course, it would be difficult. And dangerous, very dangerous...." Hermione continued for Mikayla. "Not to mention we'd be breaking about fifty school rules." Mikayla added. The girls go into a in-depth discussion of their idea with the boys, the use of Polyjuice Potion. They explained how they heard about it in Snape's class since the boys don't pay attention, they informed them how it worked and warned how difficult it could be to even get the recipe. Hermione offers a solution, Ron fights it when Mikayla realised exactly what teacher to ask for permission into the Restricted Section. "I'll get permission, don't you worry about it." She smirked looking at the confused faces of her friends.

The bell rang dismissing DADA, Mikayla and Hermione approached Professor Lockhart's desk with a slip in each hand. "Professor? Hermione and I were wondering if you'd sign a permission slip for us to get this book out of the Restricted Section of the library." Mikayla began, "And we think it will help us a lot in understanding what you say in Gadding With Ghouls about slow-acting venoms..." Hermione continued, Mikayla could sense what the Professor was about to say, "We found it a very clever read and the way you trapped the last one with the tea-strainer, ingenious! We could only hope one day we could even be a fraction of the successor that you are." Mikayla beamed brightly, this made Lockhart smile at her and wink, she fake giggled. "Well, I'm sure no one will mind me giving the best students in the year a little extra help." He smiled pulling out a peacock feathered quill, he signed the slips. The girls excitedly thanked him before rushing out of the room. "Why did you get two signatures?" Ron asked as they walked towards the library, "To prevent suspicion, if Hermione has the book out for weeks, they're going to think she's up to no good but if half way through brewing, she returns it and I take it, it looks like we're actually just reading it for the theory." Mikayla explains her logic causing everyone to look at her dumbfound before nodding.

"Harry can I speak with you for a second?" Mikayla whispered before they got to the librarian. Harry and Mikayla went into the corner, there has been something bothering Mikayla for a while now. "Harry, could you tell me everything about the time the elf showed up in your room at home. If that elf knew what was going on then I might be able to find what family he belongs to." She whispered, Harry told her everything about that day after he finished, "And you're sure his name was Dobby?" Mikayla asked, Harry nodded. "I'll look into it. I have a feeling he knew the chamber was going to be opened and he might even know who's doing it." She concluded as Ron and Hermione joined them.
