A New Side of Mikayla

Mikayla woke up confused as to why she was hanging off the couch in the common, she slowly sat straight and saw Fred was still asleep on her lap. She heard doors opening, she lightly shook Fred telling him to wake up but when that didn't work, she casted a concealment border charm around the couch and a silencing charm, so she could still wake Fred up.  She slowly stood up and then kneeled on the floor, her face in line with Fred's. "Freddie! You need to wake up." She spoke and shook him a little harder this time. He groaned, Mikayla went to her last resort. She stood on the couch, she began jumping up and down on the couch, "FREDDIE!" She shouted, he shot up causing Mikayla to fall of the couch. "Ouch." She spoke on the floor. "Shit sorry. Are you ok?"  He looked over the edge of the couch, "I'll live, sleep well?" Mikayla asked as she sat on the couch. "Wait, did you sleep down here too?" He asked, Mikayla nodded. "Well you said you were struggling to sleep and you looked so peaceful once you were sleeping and I didn't want to wake you up, so I read until I fell asleep." She shrugged. "No wonder I slept so well." He laughed, "I'm glad one of us did, I was hanging over the edge." Mikayla smirks, Fred beams. "Look about the kiss, I know you only did it to cover up for me and I'm really grateful for that and I was just really embarrassed, that's why I haven't been talking to you much." Fred spoke quickly but Mikayla caught it all. "No need to be embarrassed, it's natural. Literally could've happened to anyone, I just didn't want people to get the wrong impression about your feelings towards me." Mikayla smiled removed the spells and made her way up to her dormitories.

After a shower, Mikayla got dressed and made her way down to the Great Hall for breakfast. There was no sign of Harry, Ron or Hermione, she spotted Ginny and made her way over to her. "Hello Ginny, how are you liking Hogwarts so far?" Mikayla asked as sat down across from the red headed girl. "Colin was attacked last night." She said sadly, Mikayla's face dropped. "Oh my god, is he ok?" Mikayla asked, Ginny nodded telling her he's been petrified. Mikayla made her way to the seat beside Ginny. "Are you ok? This must be so scary for you."  She asked as she brought Ginny into an embrace, she began crying, Mikayla sat there stroking Ginny's hair, letting her to just let it all out. "O'Brien, get away from her." Percy voice was full of venom, Mikayla was confused about why Percy did this. "Percy, she was just calming me down." Ginny whimpered, his face softened, before returning to a scowl, "I don't care. Get away for my sister." Mikayla stood up, and Percy's face was inches from her, "you're not welcome near her, do you hear me? Stay away from her." He was getting louder, Mikayla just looked at him really confused as to why he was saying those things. "What have I done wrong?" She asked calmly, "You told her you'd be here for her if she need you and didn't follow up on your promise." He spat getting slightly closer. "I don't understand, I told her if she wanted me to get me. I would never ever refuse to help Ginny. I consider her family." Mikayla voice shook as she spoke. "Well you're not her family and I don't care if you have to live with us for the next 5 years because your mother is dying. You will never be family." His words felt like he was repeatedly shooting her in the heart. "PERCY!" George and Fred shouted at their brother, Mikayla soon realised that the whole of the Great Hall was looking at her and Percy. A single tear spilled from her eye, she brushed it off and turned to the twins. "It's ok." She then turned to Percy, "I understand, I now know my place." Percy face flashed with regret as Mikayla walked away, she tried to hold herself together as she walked out. "What the hell? Why would you say that to her?" Mikayla heard Fred ask his brother loudly.

Mikayla ran to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, she heard Hermione shush. "It's just me." Mikayla told them, they all sighed in relief. She heard the cubicle door unlock and the door creak open. "Hey, hey, are you ok?" Hermione rushed towards Mikayla once she saw her face. They hugged and as much as Mikayla wanted to cry she wouldn't allow herself to. She's cried way too much. "I'll be ok." She smiled with the gloss of possible tears in her eyes, "What happened?" Ron asked, Mikayla didn't want to tell them that it was Percy who upset her, "I'd rather not go into it right now. What are all you doing in here anyways?" She looked at all their faces as she tried to change the subject. "We decided it would be the safest place to make the Polyjuice Potion." Ron answered quickly, Mikayla nodded. "Let's go back to the common room, we have homework to do." Hermione instructs.

The four of them walked to Gryffindor tower, Harry told them about his little elf visit, meaning that the Chamber of Secrets is truly open. They stepped through the portrait, grabbed all their supplies and set up camp at a table in the corner. The portrait swung open again, revealing the twins, the immediately dart towards the foursome. "Are you alright Mikayla?" Fred asks, Mikayla nods and smiles, "Percy was way out of order." George shook his head at the thought of the event. "Wait, what did Percy do?" Ron looked at the twins and then Mikayla. "He told Mikayla to stay away from Ginny, and when Mikayla argues that Ginny was like family to her, Percy started shouting at her that she'll never be family with us and he doesn't care that she'll be living with us after her mam passes away." The recall of the events were almost as bad as the event itself. "Where's he now?" Ron asked standing up, Harry and Hermione followed suit. "With Penelope." George replies, "Guys, seriously it's fine. Everyone's emotions are high because of the attacks, Percy just needed to explode at someone and he saw the opportunity with me and took it. Just leave it." Everyone was stunned at Mikayla's words, she was trying to justify Percy's actions so she wouldn't have to believe them as true. "Just drop it ok, I'm fine." She smiled at their concerned faces. Mikayla returned to her homework, since she has a lot to do.
