"Good morning!" Mason yells in my ear. I jumped before turning to him. "Would you leave me alone?" I sighed before rolling onto my stomach. My hand pulled the bear into my chest.
"Come on! Moms home!" Mason exclaimed. "Moms home?" I exclaimed before standing up and running downstairs with the bear still clutched to my chest. "Mom!" I exclaimed as I saw her at the island. She smiled and hugged me tightly. "I missed you!" I exclaimed as her fiancé, Jake, walked in with her other bag.
My dad had passed away a couple years ago, and I'm glad she's finally moved on. I miss my dad, but it's gotten better with time.
"Hey, Jake." I smiled before hugging him too. "Hey, kiddo." He smiled before hugging me back.
"Where'd you get that bear, sweetheart?" Mom asked as she sat down at the island. "Um... I got it at the fair." I explained. "Yeah, from Joshua." Mason teased as he joined us downstairs. "It's our child!" I laughed.
"Hold up! How long were we gone?" Jake laughs. "We were on the Ferris Wheel and he said it should be our child! It's not that deep!" I laughed. "Well, if you have a child together I have to meet this boy." Mom giggled.
"We're not together." I grumbled. "The whole school thinks you guys are." Mason shrugs. "I'll be right back, I'm going to grab my phone." I sighed before placing the bear on the table and making my way upstairs to grab my phone.
As I descended the stairs, I read the messages I got through the night.
'I miss you.' Josh texted at 8:43 am. I blushed as I typed a message back. 'I miss you too.' I sent before placing my phone in my pajama pants pocket.
"So how was the trip?" I asked as I rejoined them in the kitchen with my face still warm. "It was amazing! After the meeting we went and saw a movie and roamed around town!" Jake laughs.
"What are we doing tonight?" Mason asked as someone knocked on the door. My heart started to race as I realized that could be Josh. I love my family, but I don't want Josh meeting them just yet.
Mason walked to the door before mom could tell us what we were doing. He disappeared from view behind a wall. "Whatever it is, it's gotta involve Jace!" He yelled back. I let out a sigh of relief before feeling my phone ding. Fishing it out of my pocket, I read what it said.
'How's our baby?' He sent with a laughing face emoji. I quickly snapped a picture before sending it to Josh without my parents noticing. Jace came in and grabbed the bear. "Hey! That's my child!" I exclaimed as I attempted to grab it. "What?" He laughs. "That's her and Josh's kid." Mason teases.
"How long was I gone?" Jace questioned while laughing. "If you don't give me my child back I'm going to kick you in the chin." I joked. Jace laughs and hands me the bear back.
"What's their name?" Jake asked. "You know, we never named it." I realized before feeling my phone vibrate. I grabbed it and opened my messages to see Josh sending the pouting face emoji.
'We never named our child.' I sent, leaving the tab open and listening to my family. Three little circles appeared in the corner of my screen. 'Franklin.' He replied.
"Okay so update, his name is Franklin!" I told them. "Cute name." Mason chuckled. "I'm going to watch Scooby Doo." I told them before walking back upstairs and turning my TV on.

That night, after a late dinner and I was getting ready to have a movie night with my son while everyone got ready for bed and/or was asleep, I got messages from Josh.
'I can't sleep.' Joshua texted. My cheeks heated up as I read his name. Someone knocked on my door before opening it. "We're heading to bed, sweetheart. I'll see you in the morning." Jake smiled. "Okay, love you." I uttered. "Love you too, kiddo." He smiled before ducking out of my room, closing the door behind him.
'Why?' I questioned. He texted back immediately. 'I don't know, the bed kind of smells like you.' He sent with a pouty emoji. 'Don't make me cry, bro.' I sent back with a smile on my face.
'I got a idea.' Josh sent before going completely AWOL. I tried texting multiple times, but no reply.
After I finally gave up, I heard little pings.
Ping!
...
Ping!
"What the hell?" I questioned as I got up and walked towards my window. I opened the curtains and opened the window to be hit with a pebble. "Ow!" I laughed. "Shit, sorry!" Joshua cutely giggled.
"I'm okay. Now what are you doing here? And how did you know which window was mine?" I whisper-yelled. "I guessed, and I'm lonely. So let me up!" Josh says as he drops the rest of the pebbles in his large hand. Glancing back at the door to make sure no one was coming in, I crawled out of the window to help him up.
He grabbed onto my hand that was outstretched and pulled himself up with my help. "Thanks, sunflower." He smiled as he sat on the rooftop with me. "Is that my new nickname?" I asked. "Oh, most definitely. It fits you, you're always glowing." Josh says before intertwining our fingers.
"You're just lucky you didn't knock on my brothers window, he would have killed you." I chuckled before leaning my head on his shoulder as we looked at the stars. "Eh, would have been worth it." He laughs as he caresses my knuckles with his thumb.
"Josh?" I asked. "Hm?" He replied. "What are we?" I asked. It was quiet for a few moments. "Well, what do you want us to be?"
"I really like you, but I've been hurt. I don't want to get hurt again. I'm not saying you'll hurt me! I just don't want to break up and then I lose my best friend." I admitted. "Hey, look at me." Josh says as he takes his hand out of mine and placed it around my shoulder before guiding my eyes to his by gently leading my face with his other hand.
"I would never, never, plan on hurting you. You mean too much to me. You know I'm always here for you, right?" Josh softy says. "I know, it's just my dad passed away a couple years ago, his side of the family blames us for it. My dad promised he would never hurt me, and now he left me." I teared up. "God, I'm sorry for crying in front of you again, you're probably tired of it." I cried. "No, I think crying makes people stronger." Josh whispers before placing my head on his chest. Josh cradled my head and kissed my head as I cried.
"If I could, I would kiss your problems away." Josh whispers. I looked up at his big brown eyes. In the moonlight, his eyes looked like heaven. Well, he was heaven.
"Can I kiss you?" I asked. Josh nodded as he licked his lips. This only made them look even softer. I leaned up and pressed my lips against his. I could taste the salty tears running down my face, and I bet he could too. As we kissed, a smile started to etch it's way onto my face, ultimately making Josh smile too.
