I.

Angela knew she had scared Diana but hearing her complain about Jack and how she didn't exactly know what went wrong made her snap.

"You shouldn't have said anything..." Lars told her.

They were in bed in the bedroom they created in the basement of the beach house they lived in. It didn't have any windows, so it was completely safe. The perfect house had been hard to find but that one was just perfect and fulfilled all their needs. They have chosen that house for it was isolated, no neighbors. Neighbors would notice they wouldn't be around during the day and they couldn't take that risk.

"I know but seeing them together was so overwhelming." Angela responded. Lars turned on his side to look at his mate.

"How's James? How does he look?"

"Now you believe it?" She curled an eyebrow teasing him. "He's much older but it's him...his voice... and asking me to leave, just like when he used to order us around. Same eyes..."

"Are they a couple?" He asked.

"No...they aren't a couple...it seemed like they were just getting to know each other."

"Jesus...was she really looking for him?" Lars said surprised with all the events.

"If she was, she already found him. Diana died for him...a love like that cannot be forgotten even in new lives. At the same time, I feel so much sorry for them for they must so confused right now, so taken aback with things that are probably happening and they don't understand.

"Just stay away from them...they are human, and we are not." He said kissing her forehead.

"I'd like to sit and talk to her, just for a little bit." Angela told him. "You have to see him..." She smiled looking at him. Lars lied on his back and stared at the ceiling.

"I don't want to see him." He said.

"Why not?"

"Because that is just a person who looks like him, but that person is not my Sire. I know you are hoping you'd have Diana back, but you need to face the truth. Life might be giving them a second chance, but we are not part of it. We don't have a second chance..."

"You are right, every time she looks at me, she looks frightened and James...he was so cold asking me to leave it even hurt."

"Protecting her like he's always done. You keep saying Diana died for him but don't forget he died for her. All the things that he's done because of her...he was condemned for killing our own kind because he knew they'd be after Diana."

"She conceived his child while human...I didn't even know that would be possible." Angela recalled.

"James didn't know that was possible. That's the things I hate in our life. Older vampires keep important things from us. If he knew..."

Angela interrupted him. "...he'd do the same thing because he was so in love with her that nothing would stop him. She had just came back from India...it had been horrible five years for him. Even if he knew he'd still go to her bed."

"I hope this time things turn right." Lars kissed her lips and turned the lamp on the nightstand off.

"I hope so." She agreed.

The alarm clock buzzed at eight am, but it didn't startle her off her sleep as usual. She had been awaked for quite some time, seeing the first rays of light coming inside the bedroom bit by bit as the sun rose. She felt tired but her body refused to sleep. Diana pulled the sheet away and went straight to the wardrobe to pick something nice to wear that day at work. On one hand she was glad she didn't have to be formal and all dressed up, though she had appropriate clothes just in case. At Aston Martin she'd always had to look perfect, neatly dressed, neatly brushed and neat makeup.
