I.
Diana woke up with the familiar noise of rain tapping rather strongly on her window. They had been out until late and James was sleeping profoundly. The heavy drops tapping on glass didn't seem to bother him at all. Diana was sure, while she watched him, that he was completely oblivious to the diluvium falling outside, as he was breathing heavily, turned on his right side. As she had her appointment to the doctor that afternoon and it was past noon already, she got out of the bed gently to have a shower for her appointment was around 4 pm and they still had to have lunch or something in between breakfast and lunch.
She went to the bathroom almost tiptoeing, though she was bare foot so the noise she could make walking was minimum. She opened the bathroom's door really gently so it wouldn't grate, and once inside, she opened the water in the shower and then disposed of her white silk pajama and put it on the toilet, entering the shower the second after. While drenching herself under the mild warm water, the emotions lived in the dungeon were played in her mind one more time. Sometimes things were so strange between them, but not strange in a bothering way, strange in a very right way. As if they didn't know how to explain what was happening or why they were feeling what they were feeling, but deep inside it made some sense, it brought them a sense of enclosure. The tower had been the most excruciating feeling so far. She cringed remembering it. She felt she had lost him in that place, and she couldn't find a logical explanation for that because she saw him for the first time in her life in San Francisco in the kitchen of her house. Therefore, these obscured feelings were very tough on them both.
These were the thoughts occupying her mind while washing herself and they came to an end when she closed the water and grabbed her towel to get dry. After, Diana started brushing her teeth and while doing so, she looked at her image in the mirror. Other type of recognition came to her mind. For the first time in her life she looked at her reflection without questioning any of her choices. Throughout her life she had always question why she was dating that person, or why she had chosen such career. Why she was still friends with someone? When did she think Jack was the man or her life? Nothing... that very instant, she looked back at herself voided of questions. She had none. No doubts were creeping in her mind. To say the least, she had certitudes. She was certain she had taken the right choice going to San Francisco. She was certain what she was doing now in life was making her happier. She was certain the man that was sleeping in her bed was the one for her. She was certain she was dating the right person for the first time in her life. A soft smile came across her lips as Diana bent over and opened the faucet to rinse her mouth and put her brush in the glass she had on the shelf under the mirror and then took a look at it once more. She nodded all by herself; she had no doubts ghosting her mind.
She reentered the bedroom naked. There was pour lighting coming from the window for the day was dark. The rain was still tapping strongly against the glass and gusts of wind could be heard as the trees whistled with it. James was still lying on his stomach but occupying most of the bed as he had reached for her pillow and was resting on it with an arm around it. Diana smiled seeing he was sleeping across the entire bed. She tiptoed until her stroller to grab some lingerie and clothes to wear and that's when she felt his arm reaching for her hand. Diana looked back to find him with his eyes opened.
"Hey..." She smiled.
"Morning..." He responded with a beautiful sleepy smile. His eyes blinking a bit and he stayed motionless apart from the arm he had moved.
Diana gave up what she was doing and sat on the bed by his side, the mattress sinking with her weight and a hand caressed his hair. James closed his eyes instantly feeling her fingers running through his hair, loving that gentle and affectionate gesture first thing in the morning. Before she arrived in there, he also had been awaked by the rain on the window and had been thinking about the feelings experienced the day before. They were connected somehow and though he was very skeptical about certain things, the type of emotions he shared with her could only be explained with one of the illogical explanations he never believed in. That had to be past lives. He was sure Diana and he were connected by some past events none could ever recreate.
