I.
San Francisco...
Carol drove nervously holding tight onto the steering wheel and having the feeling someone was already following her, knowing though that it was impossible. It had been just a short time. Her hands were shaking and so were her legs. She had never done anything like it before and the fact that Diana didn't move left her wondering if it had been just the innocent fall that would make her lose the baby or if anything more serious might have happened. As she stopped on a red light, she looked around her. It seemed like everyone was looking at her. It seemed like every other person in the street or in the other cars knew what she had done. Her guilt was killing her and she felt her heart accelerate. Most of all, she was scared. Scared of going to jell. Scared of being caught.
When the sign turned green, she pressed the accelerator of the R8 and raced down the avenue. Carol overtook two cars on the right and then crossed the two lanes in a row to drive at the left lane that was free. She pressed on the pedal even more and she was able to do the avenue in one straight drive without stopping in any other red lights though she was breaking the law by exceeding the speed limit. The sound of her cell ringing made her slow down though, and she glanced at the mirror fast and crossed the lane to the right so she wouldn't block the traffic on the left. Then, she pressed the button on the steering wheel to answer her phone that was connected on Bluetooth to the car.
"Yes." She almost yelled.
"It's me." Constantine told her quietly. "Are you driving home?"
"Yes..." Carol confirmed him. "You told me to get my suitcases."
"Good." Constantine nodded as he heard her. "Look, Carol..." He said stopping near the window. "Listen carefully to what I am going to tell you." He instructed her. "When you get there, you have two guys waiting for you. You are going to give them your R8 for they are going to disappear with it. They will leave you a new car that is on the name of Isabella Silver."
"Who is she?" Carol curled an eyebrow as she heard that name.
Constantine laughed. "You." He told her.
Carol shook her head at the same time as she turned left on an intersection that led to her apartment.
"You are telling me all this on the fucking telephone!" She muttered. "Do you know the police will be able to trace my calls through my number!"
"You don't know me at all, do you?" He smiled and ran a hand over his hair. "This number is in the name of Allan Murdoch and I used it only for you. Your phone, you are going to leave it with the guys that are waiting for you. They will destroy it and give you another one that I know the number already. I got everything under control."
"Even if my phone is destroyed they can ask for the numbers at the company." Carol insisted.
"But they can't reach me and they will not be able to trace you once the phone is destroyed." Constantine told her.
"Ok..." Carol said. "I am arriving at my building and no one is here." She said pulling over and looking around. "No one is here, Constantine."
"Carol... they would not be exchanging cars and stuff on the street for everyone to see." He groaned. "Gosh... sometimes you don't think!" He almost yelled. "They are in the garage."
"Oh..." She exclaimed.
Then, she unparked the car, looking if another car was coming first and then crossing the street and pointing the R8 to the door of her garage. With her heart pounding, she pressed the remote control to open the gate.
