I.
San Francisco...
Mid-January.
Diana, James, and Phil had just finished going through details over the fair in Buenos Aires. They had been studying the plant of the fair so they could choose the best cars for their spot. Those that would enhance their work and also get the most attention from the public attending the fair. It had been a long meeting after lunch. They discussed which cars to ship, the logistics, the contract, and the best way to exhibit their stars. A new car was also in sight, but they were not sure if they could get it done on time. The new Chev green truck was roughly at the beginning of its transformation. It was just a carcass really well planned but still in the building. Nevertheless, they would try to ship it too. Given the sudden news of James and Diana's engagement, the three friends were now just relaxing talking cheerfully about the wedding.
The news had caught all by surprise but after a few seconds of pure surprise, everyone was very happy for the couple. Alice and Morgan could not be happier when on Christmas morning they delivered the news. The two women didn't spare some tears that welled up their eyes as Diana extended her hand to show them the engagement ring that James had presented her with the previous night in their bedroom. Apart from the complaint on Morgan's part that it hadn't been romantic enough, the two mothers embraced them both to congratulate them. When they came back to the office after the festivities, they informed their friends of their plans and a morning of celebrations happened instead of a regular morning of work. James and Diana celebrated with them, after all, they had been the first ones to witness their love happening.
"So..." Phil said, raising his arms above his head to stretch a little the tense muscles of his back. "... have you guys decided where you two are tying the knot?" He smiled.
"You guys!" James began to laugh quietly and Diana smiled as she looked at him. Phil was sitting by her side with a smirk, knowing he was teasing them.
"Come on..." He held up his hands as asking for peace. "Nothing can beat this wedding. No one talks about anything else."
James nodded. "We have." He said. "We know exactly where we want the ceremony and the reception to happen."
"We want something small and very private." Diana added as she smiled at Phil.
"I hope I am invited!" He exclaimed as they undisclosed details of what they had been planning.
James threw him the pen he had been rolling around his fingers. "Of course you are!" He exclaimed after. "I said small and private. I didn't say just the two of us." James laughed right after and Diana released a giggle too.
"We want our closest friends and family. Just that" Diana added.
Phil nodded. "Good!" He pointed a finger at James and then at Diana as if he was menacing them. His eyes wide opened. "Because... none of us want to miss this event. I mean it!" He emphasized in the end.
"You won't." Diana giggled, pulling her hair back at the same time. That day she had decided to let it lose but was regretting it as there was always wild strays on her face.
"We decided it's going to be in our house." James told him, crossing his right foot over his left leg, resting it on his knee. "It's intimate. It's our space and it's enough to receive all the people we want to come by."
Phil's eyes went even wider. "You guys have really decided the place?" His eyebrow crocked up suddenly. When he first had made them that question it was just to tease them. "When is this wedding taking place?" He asked, for he realized they had everything well thought and arranged.
