Pam had sent her two messages already, but she had fallen asleep she hated to keep people waiting for her and the stupid keys were nowhere to be found. She searched everywhere to find them in no other place than inside her purse. The keys had been inside her purse the whole time. REALLY? She yelled mentally when she saw them there. Diana ran outside as Pam was waiting for her as she had promised.
"I am sorry. I couldn't find my keys." Diana said entering her car.
"It's ok. So, how was the rest of your Sunday?" Pam asked her as she started to drive.
"It was..." Diana remembered how it had ended though and stopped talking. She swallowed dry as a flashback ran over her mind.
It ended amazingly. Diana's heart skipped a beat thinking about how he touched her and then she saw Pam turn her head to look at her, so she felt pressured to say something.
"It was alright. I talked to Emma at the end of the day, I read a book. It was really quiet." She told her most recent friend.
"Mine was really quiet too. As it was raining, Danny and I stayed at home just watching movies. But it felt good." Pam told her smiling. "But you look restless, Di." She noticed.
"I went to bed late." She said. "I ended up watching a movie and went to bed really late."
"There's a lot of work to do today. With that exhibition in New York, we have a lot in our hands the next weeks." Diana nodded hearing Pam.
She was even glad. That would be the perfect excuse to be locked up in her office. She was unsure about-facing James in their professional environment. She was afraid, she'd want him still in every way she has had him during the weekend and there he was his boss and she, the employee. Her cheeks began to rubberize as she remembered that.
"I know. I am starting to work on it today." She said then almost absently.
Pam parked the car in her usual spot and Diana started feeling her heart racing fast. She saw James's ride on the parking lot already, so he was there, and she had to face him, and she didn't have the courage to do so. Grow some balls, will you? She thought to herself. All type of thoughts assaulted her that moment. Running away was one of them, but it would be the most childish and stupid thing to do. She forced herself to get her shit together. As they entered the place, they heard the usual morning rush in the kitchen, but Diana stopped halfway there. She was not ready to face him in their daily environment. Pam looked back at her. DIANA... the voices inside her head yelled so loud. YOU ARE SUCH A PUSSY!
"Aren't you coming?" Pam asked her.
Diana shook her head. "I had breakfast at home. I am going up to my office to start working. I need to leave on time today. I have a meeting with my tutor at college." She explained. That seemed a valuable reason from her point of view and it was not a lie.
"Ok..." Pam said. Diana smiled and went up and she made her way inside the kitchen. She perceived James's eyes looking behind her. "Good morning." She greeted everyone and all of them answered but James. "What's up Jay?" She asked tapping his shoulder. Sometimes she called him that way, ever since they met.
"Nothing." He told her but he turned his head to the kitchen's door as if expecting someone to come in. His heart was racing expectantly.
"Diana went up to her office." Pam told him. She knew he was searching for her.
"I didn't ask anything." He defended himself. But he was indeed looking for her. He was anxious to see her.
While pouring a cup of coffee right beside him, Pam smiled at him. "You don't have to. I know you well enough." She said low though, so the others couldn't hear.
