"I'm serious alfie, just back off!" She shouted.

The back room was empty apart from the two of them, so there was no one around to hear the loud argument they were having.

"Why won't you just talk to me?" He asked, following behind her.

"Because you're a fucking psycho!"

He grabbed her wrist and turned her around, making her jump away from him.

"Don't touch me."

He held his hands up in mock surrender but before he could say anything they were interrupted.

"Guys. Stop with the fighting! I obviously won't be able to have you two working the same shift," Their manager, Todd said.

Charlotte let out a sigh of relief as she realized she wouldn't have to see alfie anymore after that day.

Alfie rolled his eyes and walked away, leaving Charlotte standing in silence with her manager.

"Is he bothering you?" He asked gently.

She shook her head and he nodded, "It's my job to make sure none of  my employees are being harassed at work, so just let me know if anything happens."

"Sure thing Todd," she smiled at the Middle Aged man and walked back into the store, distracting herself by helping customers.

As the end of her shift neared she sighed happily and said goodbye to Todd before walking out of the shop.

She looked around, happy that the rain had now stopped, and began to walk home.

"Hey! Where you going?" A voice called after her.

She turned around and looked at Preston, who was sitting in his car.

"Home."

He waved her over and she walked over to his open window, "I'm here to bring you there, hop in."

She cautiously got into the passenger seat of his car, not liking how suspiciously kind he was being.

Her head throbbed as she leaned it against the window.

"So...." he began, looking at her from the side.

"So?"

"So what happened?"

She glanced out the window, tears making  their way to her eyes already.

She hated herself for crying, it was all she seemed to do lately and ir made her feel weak. She wanted to go home and she wanted to sleep.

"I'm not talking about it."

"Maybe if you talked about it then-" he began.

She cut him off quickly, "I said I'm not talking about it, don't ask me again."

He clenched his jaw, "Dammit Charlotte! I'm trying to be nice here."

She sobbed loudly and he looked at her, not realizing she had began to Cry.

"Fuck, I'm sorry. Don't cry."

She rubbed at her eyes gently and he sighed, "Don't talk to me if you don't want to, I don't want to make you upset."

She watched him with surprise. She wasn't used to him being kind to her, so when he was it made her question his motives.

They sat in silence, neither of them knowing what to say to the other.

He knew that she was upset. He didn't know why,  but he also knew not push girls over the limit. Especially Charlotte, who he had learned was extremely fragile.

"Do you want me to walk you to the door?" He asked as he pulled into the parking lot.

"No thanks. See you around," she mumbled, hopping out of the car.

She dragged herself up the stairs and pulled the door open, wanting nothing more than to curl up in bed and cry.

She dropped her keys in the table and sighed loudly.

"You don't look great" Thomas stated, taking in her tired state.

"Thank you for that."

He raised his eyebrows, "So what happened?"

She began to speak as tears came falling out of her eyes eyes, "I just- I don't know- I can't- there's just so much- and I don't know what to do- he won't stop-" She sobbed.

He pulled her into his chest and wrapped his arms tightly around her, "Say all of that again, but slower."

He rubbed her back soothingly as she began to tell him everything about what had happened that day, right up until she had been dropped home by Preston.

"I'm sorry you had such a shit day," he mumbled soothingly.

She kept her head buried in his body, enjoying the comfort he was giving her.

"I can talk to Preston, I'll get him to stop pestering you," he told her.

She nodded and sniffed, "I'm ruining your shirt."

"I can wash it."

He pulled her hair out of the braid she had put it in and began to play with it, pulling her down onto the couch beside him.

"What did this Jamie guy do?" He asked, still hugging her.

Her body tensed up at the thought of it as he rubbed his thumbs against her waist, trying to calm her down.

"He dated me for three years because of a bet he made with his friends."

"Three years!? That can't have all been fake," He insisted, now holding her cheek.

She shrugged, "It was. I guess they hadn't intended it to go on that long but it was all fake."

Thomas held her waist tighter as he caressed her face gently, "You never seem to get the good guys."

She sighed, "I always go for the wrong people."

She felt herself melt into his hold as he continued to keep her secure in his grip. He hoped that she would end up with the right guy, but he also knew he would never be the right guy for her.

"Maybe I'm the problem," She mumbled, more to herself than to him.

He shook his head, "Dont be ridiculous, you're literally perfect and any guy would be lucky to date you."

She smiled gently but was still doubtful. If any guy was lucky to date her then why did they all end up hurting her in the end?

They stayed sitting there for a while until eventually Thomas pulled Charlotte away from his body.

"You should get some sleep, we both have the day off tomorrow so I'm taking you somewhere," He instructed.

"I don't want to go anywhere, I want to stay in bed and think about how miserable I am," She objected.

He shrugged, "I don't care. We're all going to go somewhere fun. You are going to have the best day ever. We will bring all of the guys. We will bring Lucy. Everyone will go."

"But Jamie-"

He cut her off quickly, "Jamie will not bother you. I will make sure of it."

She gave him a pointed look, "No fighting though."

He nodded, "I know, no fighting. I'm not going to break my promise gorgeous so stop doubting me."

He kissed her gently on the cheek before she could respond with anything and pushed her towards her bedroom, indicating it was time for her to go to sleep.
