"You've looked at like twenty dresses and you've looked amazing in every single one. Why are you stressing out about this so much?" Lucy asked in annoyance.
Charlotte sighed and slammed her hands by her side, "Because this is my dad we're talking about. If there is anything wrong with this dress then he'll let me know and probably beat the shit out of me. My mom will be the first to point out any flaw that she can find. I can't give them the satisfaction of knowing they got to me, even the smallest bit."
Lucy nodded in understanding although Charlotte knew that she didn't understand and probably never could.
She sighed as she flicked through more of the dresses, a feeling of hopelessness taking over her.
The sound of her phone ringing attracted both of their attention and she handed the dresses to Lucy as she fished her phone out of her pocket.
The name Thomas flashed on the screen and she looked at it in confusion before pressing the accept button and putting it on speaker while continuing to rummage through all of the racks.
"So, how's dress shopping going?" He asked, his voice sounding muffled through the phone speaker.
"Terribly," Lucy called out, making Chloe frown at her.
"It's not going terribly, it's just-"
Thomas cut her off before she could finish, "Jeez, I forgot how much you ramble. It doesn't matter how it's going because I found you a dress."
The two girls stared at each other in surprise.
"What do you mean you found me a dress? You're supposed to be looking for a suit. Thomas everything has to be perfect. I will not give my dad the satisfaction of finding something wrong with me," She argued.
She heard him sigh and she could picture him rolling his eyes in frustration. "Are you forgetting who you're talking to? I'm literally the definition off perfect."
Lucy scoffed at this as Charlotte rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, I found my suit like an hour ago," He added on.
She let out a sigh of relief, "Good. Thank you."
"Yeah, anyway so I'm at that dress store on the top floor. I've got a dress here and I think you'll like it," He told her.
"You went to a dress shop?" Charlotte asked, barely trying to hide the laugh that escaped from her mouth as she pictured Thomas amongst the sea of women looking for dresses.
"Yes, Charlie, I am in a dress shop. Can you just come on so I can show it to you?" He grunted.
"Yeah, I'll be there in a minute," she replied, her heart once again fluttering at her nickname.
The beeping noise that sounded through the phone indicated that he had hung up and Charlotte shoved her phone back in her pocket.
Lucy stared at the girl with a smirk on her face.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Charlotte asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"He's the only person who calls you Charlie," She pointed.
Charlotte shrugged, "So?"
Lucy gave her a pointed look, "Whenever anyone else called you Charlie you would tell them to never call you that because it's what your dad would call you when you were younger."
Charlotte bit at the inside of her cheek, "It doesn't matter. It's just a name."
"Right.... it's not that you like the way he says it or anything?" Lucy asked, giving her a knowing look.
