Charlotte stared at her reflection uncertainly, a frown settled on her face.
The dress that Thomas had picked out looked great on her in the shop, but as she looked at herself in the mirror she couldn't help but notice all of her flaws.
Her bedroom door opened and Lucy walked in, already wearing her dress and having her makeup done.
"Conor says we've got to go now if we want to get to the wedding ceremony on time," She told her.
Charlotte nodded and slowly turned to look at her best friend.
Lucy placed her hands on her shoulders, "You look amazing. This wedding is going to be fun, okay? Now come on."
She dragged Charlotte to the living room where Thomas, Conor and Jordan were all seated, each of them in suits.
Jordan was wearing a dark red one, Conor was in a tan one and Thomas was in a Royal blue one.
They all turned to look at the girls as the walked in and each of them stood up, staring at them in awe.
Thomas walked up to Charlotte with a small smirk on his face, "Damn Charlie, you sure do clean up nice, don't you?"
She rolled her eyes although there was a smile evident on her face, "You don't look too bad yourself."
He shrugged, "I'll take that as a compliment considering it's probably the closest thing I'll get to one."
She laughed gently until Conor rushed them all out of the apartment, ranting about how bad the traffic would be if they didn't leave at that exact moment.
Thomas and Charlotte sat in the front of the car with the rest of the people in the back. Thomas had taken the role as designated driver for the evening, even though they were staying in a hotel room that night instead of driving back up to their apartment.
"I can't wait for the cake. I love wedding cake," Jordan gushed, breaking the tense atmosphere in the car.
Charlotte stayed staring out of the window as Lucy began to talk to Jordan. Her leg bounced and Thomas gave her a side glance before focusing on the road again.
"Can you stop that? It's making me lose my concentration," He mumbled after a few minutes.
"What? Oh, sorry."
He gave her a gentle smile, "Charlie, stop stressing. We're going to have fun today."
She shook her head, "I can't have fun when he's around."
Thomas placed his hand on the inside of her thigh and gave it a comforting squeeze, "Okay. I can't promise you it will be fun but I do promise to take care of you."
She rubbed his arm gently, "Thanks, I guess."
He shrugged, "No Biggy."
"And thanks for the dress and the shoes," She added on humbly.
He smirked, "You can give me a proper thank you later."
He squeezed her thigh once again and she gasped lowly, "That was the proper thank you."
He pursed his lips, raising an eyebrow at her, "We'll see about that."
