They pulled up outside the precinct and her heart raced as her and Jake walked into it.
"Do you need anything? Like shoes or something?" He offered.
"I'm Fine, thanks."
They went into an elevator and she stared at the doors expectantly, barely able to contain the excitement of seeing her brother.
"Do you need any medical assistance? We can get a doctor here for a check up if you think you need one," Jake told her.
"I... I don't think that will be necessary," She admitted.
The pain in her foot was barely evident, her whole body filled with adrenaline.
The doors opened slowly and she rushed out of it, her eyes immediately landing on Conor who was sitting on a bench, his legs bouncing.
She ran over to him and he stood up, wrapping his arms around her.
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as she felt his wet tears land on her neck.
"I was so worried about you," He whimpered into her neck.
"Just hug me."
He held her tighter, never wanting to let go of her.
"I'm sorry to interrupt this moment, but we've actually got to get you to sign a form to say you've collected Charlotte," A voice interrupted.
Conor nodded, releasing Charlotte from his hold.
He walked away with Jake and Charlotte looked around the precinct.
Sitting at the side was a woman at a desk, staring at herself making faces in the mirror.
Just across from her were two old men who were comparing what looked to be elbow warts.
She grimaced in disgust, as grateful as she was for the cops saving her she had to admit that they were weird.
Conor walked up to her again and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, "Lets get you home."
She let him lead her out to his car, biting back tears. She couldn't believe that she had truly gotten away from Alfie.
Everything had happened so quickly that she hadn't even had time to process it.
"So... what did that freak do to you? Did he... touch you?" Conor asked angrily.
"No. He hit me, but he never touched me in that way."
Conor glanced at the bruises on her chest and the damage that had been done to her face. His eyes landed on her bare feet and it was then that she became aware of the glass that was still stuck in the sole of her foot.
"Shit," She mumbled.
"What?"
"There's glass in my foot."
"We'll sort it when we get back to your place, don't worry."
The car ride home was filled with Conor telling her how much he had missed her and how worried everyone was. He had explained to her how angry Thomas had been and how Jordan had cried every day that she was gone.
