The door slammed open and Charlotte stared at Alfie, her entire body aching from sleeping on the cold, hard floor. He walked over to her slowly, the sound of his shoes tapping aginst the floor sending a feeling of dread throughout her body.
"How did you sleep?" He asked softly, squatting in front of her. He rested his elbows on his knees as he watched her, making her feel naked under his gaze.
"Terribly."
He raised his eyebrows in surprise, a frown evident on his face, "Really?"
She rolled her eyes, "What were you expecting me to say? That I slept well on this cold, concrete floor? I didn't even have a blanket and there's no window!"
He nodded slowly, pursing his lips, "I'm not sure I appreciate the way you're talking to me, after all, I'm being very good to you right now."
She flinched away from his hand that was now reaching out to caress her face and he released a humorless chuckle, shaking his head slightly.
"How could you be being good to me? You've taken me away from everyone I care about and you're keeping me in the middle of nowhere," She snapped.
The look on his face settled an uncomfortable feeling in her stomach. She was afraid of him, more afraid of anyone she's ever been afraid of in her life, yet she knew that he would feed off of her fear. She had to appear brave in front of him or else he'd eat her alive.
"I'm keeping you away from the people who are ruining you. People like Thomas and Preston are destroying you," He said softly.
Charlotte scoffed in response, but bit her tongue to stop herself from making a nasty remark that would get her into trouble
"You don't believe me? No? I saw you and Thomas at the mall, actually I've seen you in lots of places. I've been watching you, you see. I've been watching your movements for weeks now. I should've known you two were fucking. I suspected it, but Lucy's comment just confirmed it for me."
She stared at him in shock, her hands shaking.
Alfie inched his face closer to hers, "Do you know where he was when he found out that I took you? He was at a diner with Preston. It was hilarious, you know, watching him get all angry and upset. Preston, he was pretty angry too, but God, the look on Thomas's face. He just looked so broken, you know? He even almost broke the door of the diner when he was leaving, that was fun to watch," A large grin spread across his face, the joy of seeing her in pain making him feel more alive than anything.
She closed her eyes tightly, fighting off the images of her friends and family being upset over her disappearance. She missed them, she missed them a lot.
"But you wanna know who's reaction was the best?" He chuckled.
"Why are you telling me all of this?" She asked angrily.
He smirked, "Because, the sooner you realise that these people are wrong for you, the sooner you'll realize that I'm the type of person you should want to spend time with."
She glared at him, "They all only want what's best for me. None of them would ever do anything as crazy as this, ever!"
He ignored her statement as he continued to tell his story, "The best reaction was Conor, do you want to know why?"
She shook her head and he shrugged, telling her anyway. "It was perfect, because the two of you had just been reunited after he had been in a coma and then you got taken away from him. He was crushed, he cried for hours and hours, it was great, I regret not bringing popcorn to be honest, your friends are extremely dramatic, but anyway I'm getting off track here. Where was I...? Oh yeah, so he was all crushed and heartbroken because he lost his little sister... and did you know he used to have a drug problem? Because he did, and well, I guess he does again now."
