"I'm home!" Thomas's voice boomed through the apartment.

Preston woke from his spot on the couch with a jump, letting out a startled grunt at the loud noise.

Thomas furrowed his eyebrows, "Where's Charlie?"

Preston shrugged, rubbing his eyes groggily, "Asleep, I guess."

Thomas pursed his lips and shook his head, "I highly doubt that. She can't sleep alone, dude I asked you to come over for a reason."

"Wait... have you two been sleeping together?" Preston asked, narrowing his eyes at Thomas.

Thomas's eyes widened and he shook his head rapidly, he didn't want to tell anyone about them sharing a bed. If Charlotte wanted people to know then she'd tell them herself, and the last person she'd want to know would be someone who could tell her brother.

"What? No of course not. I mean she can't sleep alone as in, without me in the apartment. Not without me in her bed," He rambled, chuckling awkwardly at the end.

Preston rolled his eyes, not believing a word he said, "Yeah, whatever you say, mentiroso (liar)."

Thomas rolled his eyes, hating when his cousin called him names in Spanish, "Cállate, gilipollas (Shut up, asshole)."

"Before you get all snappy why don't you just check if she's in her room?" Preston groaned, standing up in front of Thomas.

Thomas clenched his jaw, "I can take it from here, thanks anyway."

"You sure?" Preston asked, looking him up and down.

Thomas sighed, "Yeah, yeah, I'm sure."

Preston nodded his head and walked out of the apartment, glancing back at his cousin once more before closing the door behind him.

Thomas slowly made his way through the apartment.

He poked his head into the kitchen and looked around. Empty.

He walked onto her bedroom and slowly walked over to her bed. The sheets were ruffled which showed she had been in it, but no longer was.

He knocked on her bathroom door and frowned, no response. He opened the door to check that she actually wasn't in there and sighed once he found it empty.

He furrowed his eyebrows, now walking into his own bedroom to get out of his work uniform. He didn't understand where she would've gone.

He froze when his eyes settled on his bed. There was Charlotte, wearing one of his sweaters, wrapped up in his blankets with her head buried in his pillow.

He smiled gently, his heart fluttering upon seeing how calm she looked when she slept.

She never seemed to look that calm anymore, not even around him. He couldn't blame her, he couldn't imagine the pain she must have been feeling on a daily basis.

Soft sighs left her mouth and he tore his eyes away from her, beginning to feel like a creep as he watched her sleep.

He pulled off his work clothes and walked into the bathroom, turning on the shower.

He sighed in relief at the warm water beating off of his bare skin leaning his arms against the cold tile walls.

Eventually he stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist, walking back into his bedroom.

Charlotte's eyes widened as she looked at him, the noise of his shower had woken her up.

"I'm sorry I fell asleep in your bed. I umm, I couldn't sleep in my own and you weren't here and I didn't want to say anything to Preston and well, you're bed smells like you and I just felt better being surrounded by something that reminded me of you," She rambled, her cheeks heating up.
