I got up early so I would have plenty of time to get ready. I made myself some waffles for breakfast. My parents weren't awake yet so the house felt unnaturally quiet. I tried to think of something that my parents could have for breakfast that I could make quickly. I put together a banana bread mix so it would be ready by the time I left for the taping. I went upstairs and washed my face. I brushed my teeth and put on my black slacks, purple blouse, and black flats. I brushed my hair and put on some mint lip balm. The oven timer went off so I took the banana bread out of the oven and let it cool. I sliced a few pieces and put them on a plate before I walked to the studio.
I felt so excited as I approached the studio. A security guard stood at the door. "Are you Jennifer?" he asked me. "Yes," I answered. "Drew she's here," he called over his shoulder. Drew Carey walked in front of the security guard. "Hi Jennifer. Nice to meet you," he said. "It's nice to meet you too. Thanks for letting me be on the show," I replied. "Anytime. You've got a lot of talent and I'd like to see what you can do with improvisation," Drew smiled. We walked into the studio and moved to the stage. "This is where we do our filming obviously," he started. Ryan and Colin came out of their dressing rooms and looked at us. They started doing Drew Carey impressions. I couldn't help but laugh. Drew looked confused at first but then turned around. Ryan and Colin froze. Drew pretended to be annoyed and we walked over to them. "Hey guys! This is Jennifer. I have to take care of some things so make her feel welcome," he said.
"It's nice to meet you Jennifer," Colin said hugging me. "It's so nice to meet you too. I'm honored to meet you guys," I replied hugging back. "That's so sweet," Ryan said. I hugged Ryan and he hugged me back. We had a really big height difference since I'm five seven. "Let's show you your dressing room," Colin said. We walked over to the right and there was a long hallway. My dressing room was between Colin's and Wayne's. It was full of balloons and had a Welcome To The Show Jennifer banner on the wall. "This is so nice! Thank you so much," I told Ryan and Colin. "You're welcome," they replied. Ryan knocked on Wayne's door. Wayne opened the door. "Hey Jennifer. It's great to meet you," he said giving me a hug. "It's great to meet you too Wayne," I replied hugging him.
"Can you guys come to the stage please?" the stage manager asked. "Sure," we answered and followed him to the stage. "Jennifer, you'll sit between Wayne and Colin," the stage manager instructed. I sat between them and put on our microphones. "You look a little pale. Are you alright?" Colin asked. "I'm fine. I've always had fair skin so I'm used to it. As long as I don't look deathly pale, I'm alright," I laughed. He smiled and handed me a glass of water. "Just in case you're dehydrated or something," Colin said. I took a few sips and put the glass down. People from the audience began to trickle into their seats. "Do you have any tips for someone who hasn't done live television work before?" I asked Wayne. "I would say trust yourself and put something out there even if you aren't sure how the audience will react. You'll do great and we'll be more than happy to help you out," he answered. "Thanks," I replied.
The audience was in their seats and Drew was among them waiting for the cameras to start rolling. The director gave a signal. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Whose Line Is It Anyway. Performing tonight are Wayne, Jennifer, Colin, and Ryan. I'm Drew Carey. Let's have some fun," he exclaimed. Drew got behind his desk. "Jennifer's one of our new performers. We're glad to have you here," he told me. "I'm glad to be here," I smiled. "We're going to start with scenes from a hat. This is for all of our performers," Drew said. Wayne and I walked to the left side of the stage and Colin and Ryan went to the other side. "Bad times to sneeze," Drew read. I motioned for Wayne to go out with me and we faced each other holding hands. "And I would just like to say I love Achoo," I fake sneezed in his face. The audience laughed and Drew hit the buzzer. We walked back to our spots. "Dumbest ways to die," Drew said. I went out. "I'm crossing the street now. Oh no," I said texting while walking. The audience laughed and I went back to my spot. "200 points for all our performers," Drew announced. The others had me dying of laughter most of the game.
