~Atem's POV~
After dinner with my friends, also known as the scared guardians. I walk into the throne room for the last time of the day. Joey and Yugi were already waiting for me with the guard that I assigned to them.
"My pharoah," the guard bowed, the two boys looking side to side before slowing bowing aswell, making me chuckle "what is the task that you have decided for them." The guard asked.
Usually I would asked them about themselves but I already know they are going to like this.
"Since I have great expectations for you two, I want you two to personally serve me and my sacred guardians." I told them and they looked at me and then each other confused like little puppies.
"My pharoah are you sure about this, no one-"
I raise my hand to silence the guard. "No one has met my expectations yet, you see." I say to the guard and focus my attention on the two boys in front of me.
"I see you two look confused as to what I mean. Instead of your jobs only being to work around the kitchen or to tend the gardens health, you will accompany me or a guardian and will assign to us for your tasks, you will receive anything that we may need." Hopefully by now they understand this is one of the most sought out jobs in the palace.
"To make it easier to help us we will be moving your rooms to the third floor." I told them, looking at the guard and he nodding, leaving to go prepare the rooms across the hallway from the guardians hallway.
The two new comers were shifting under my gaze and couldn't meet my eye "you two don't have to be so on edge around me, when you are helping me you can't be afraid of me." I gave them a soft chuckle but they didn't flinch. I sighed as the guard came back downstairs and nodded.
"Follow me you two." I said to the pair and they said nothing as they follow me up the stairs to the third floor. Passing some servants who mutter a "my pharoah." With a bowed head before returning to what they were doing before.
We got up to the sleeping quarters of myself and the guardians with the quarters for them on the opposite side of the hallway.
"Report to me in the morning after breakfast. I'll be waiting next to the dinning halls." I told them and they nodded their heads "have a good night." I said, being the first to walk a away "goodnight my pharoah." The two of them and the guard said from behind me and I walk into my room.
I sighed and took off my top and all my jewelry. Placing my crowd down as well and ruffling my hair, after a while it just itches. I hate having to act all proper. I love when I can just laugh with my friends, the guardians. My cousin Seto isn't much to smile but he is my closest friend and I feel I can be my true, non king self, around them.
I go over to my bed and get under the covers, feeling the coldness of the sheets against my bare chest. It feels so good to lay my head down after a long days work. It wasn't long before sleep took over.
~next morning~
The sun shining in through the curtains woke me up. I sit up in bed and rub my eyes. Getting up only to hear movement in my room.
My eyes narrow as I walk towards to bathroom. Slamming the door open and preparing for a fight only to see my newest servant shaking in fear.
"I-I'm sor-sorry, t-the guards told m-me i-t would hel-help you if I-if I ran you a- a bath." Yugi stumbled over his words as he looked down, hands and arms coming closer to him body trying to make himself as small as possible.
I let out a relieved sigh and ruffled his hair, making him flinch at first before relaxing under my hand "thank you little one, I'm sorry to frighten you I just didn't expect you to be up so earlier." I removed my hand from his head and looked at the tub.
