As Kaila stood surrounded by other people dressed in white lab coats listening to the meeting going on only feet in front of them, the small girl was blanking out the entire time. Constantly thinking about everything Mary had told her.

'I need to get out of this place! I need to find Lain! How am I suppose to even do that?! I have no idea where she is! Or how to find her! Or how to leave without the Hounds finding us! Wait a second, if Mary said this is D5 and I was a patient here...' her face turned as pale as the moon, 'I'm going to be auctioned off! I need to get out of here now!' She looked around the room slowly making her way towards the set of doors.

Seeing Mary look back at her confused she simply smiled and waved at Kaila while she left. Back out in the halls, Kaila took a deep breathe and began walking through the maze again. She felt her steps echoing with the empty walls providing no barrier. But as easy as it was to hear her own, she could hear other footsteps all around her.

Roaming up a new hallway she noticed a familiar voice calling out in the distance. "Kaila! Get back here right now!"

Lauren's voice was filled with rage and panic. She could hear that Lauren was running through the halls screaming and shouting with her hoarse voice.

It wasn't long before her footsteps were growing near and her pace wasn't slowing down in the slightest. Frantically looking around for a place to hide, Kaila ran down the hall checking every door around her. The first knob she grabbed, locked. Her breathing picked up as she continued down the long hallway trying to get a door open. Just when the shadow of a person could be made out at the other end of the hall, Kaila successfully pushed open a door. Not wanting to stick around for Lauren, she shut herself in the room.

Hearing the loud roars of Lauren running down the hall, Kaila heavily breathed out taking a look at her surroundings. The room was empty to her luck, it was a small office. One that was filled with only filing cabinets. Each one clearly stuffed to the brim as papers bulged out of the front of them.

Curious she went over to one and opened it up. To no surprise there were many files all stacked behind one another. Grabbing the closest one to her out, she flung it open looking at the contents. Inside she noticed a debriefing about a young woman. Nothing particularly stuck to her mind as the file contained mainly health and disciplinary reports. But the final page did strike her interest.

In large bolded red letters she read "SOLD" marked across an image of her. Her mouth dropped as she continued further down the page seeing just how much money the woman was sold for. She read the nine digit number baffled by the thought of someone willing to spend that much money on a person.

Putting the file down, she continued to do the same to the next. Before she knew it, Kaila was sitting besides a cabinet. She had gone through several of them, all of which she partially searched through and all coming up with the same result. "They've sold all these people...there sick monsters." She whispered under her breathe as she placed the finally file back in its place.

Getting up from her place on the floor, Kaila leaned against the door hearing nothing but silence. Stepping out into the hall she was relieved to find the hallways empty. Creeping up the halls she couldn't help but feel a strange feeling of déjà vu. The door patterns and hallway layout seemed all too familiar.

Tracking down further the strange tingling feeling running through her body was getting stronger. The more she continued on it was as if all her senses were heightening. She could tell she had to be on high alert.

Slowing her movements while taking extra precautions, she turned a corner and was met with a sight that made her knees weak. Peaking her head out she saw a set of double wooden doors being guarded by two men in black uniforms. They had bullet proof protective equipment all over their body and helmets covering their entire head. The only bit of skin either of them showed was a small sliver where their arm connects to their torso.

Neither of them moved an inch the entire time she stared at them, which had turned into several minutes. She was too shocked and scared to even move a muscle for she feared they would notice her. Each of them had an belt around their waist containing a multitude of weapons.

It was if they were statues, they had not made a single movement as the small girl kept a watchful eye on them. That was until a faint voice could be heard yelling from the other side of the door. As they flew open, Kaila threw her head back behind the wall and began to sprint away.

"Where the f*** did she go?! She wasn't in the other departments! This is what I get for sleeping! I'm dead! So dead! Mom and dad gave me one task and I failed! Kaila's here somewhere. She couldn't have left this building! She has no key card to leave!" Turning to her right she yelled at a Hound. "Shut down this building! I want nobody in or out until she is found! And we are not telling my parents or brother about this!"

The Hound simply nodded his head before walking away to follow out on orders. Meanwhile Lauren stormed off down the halls growling, and nearly foaming at the mouth, from how frustrated and annoyed she was.

She knew deep down Kaila was going to make another attempt at escaping, but this was beyond any stunt she would have expected. Little did she know Kaila was just meters away hiding behind a wall.

Every step Lauren made pounded into Kaila's chest. She could feel the heat radiating off of her. She tightened her breathing and made sure to keep the lose ends of the lab coat behind the wall. Putting one hand over her mouth, she silently whimpered hearing Lauren swearing a storm. She felt the pressure and anxiety build up that she had forgotten how to breathe as she waited for Lauren to pass her by.

Once she finally did, Kaila waited a few seconds before she stepped out from behind her hiding place. Finally remembering that she needed to breathe, she gasped in, taking a large amount of air to refill her lungs. 'I need to get out of here before I lose my chance...but why does this place feel so familiar?'
