Mallix waited for the ringing to begin before putting his phone up to his ear. There was a steady rate of them before finally the line went through.

N: Hey M, what's up?

M: How much longer do you think you'll be out for?

N: Um, well Z and I just got done with lunch so maybe about twenty minutes. Thirty at the latest.

Mallix sighed in relief hearing he wouldn't have to wait long.

M: Thats great to hear, Alex and I just went in for round one with questioning James.

N: How'd that go?

M: It was...something to say the least. It's exactly like we expected. James was in on it all. He's involved with the Cave and knew what was happening to the girls all along.

N: That son of a gun. Did you get anything new out of him?

M: Y-yeah...

Mallix rubbed his temples taking a seat on the couch as he prepped himself.

M: ...he said Lain's going to go through a surgery within the next few days.

N: What?! A surgery?! What surgery?!

M: No clue, James said he never got any further details. Alex is in there with him right now for round two trying to see if he knows where their base is located.

N: Alright hopefully he can get something out of him. How are you holding up M?

M: As good as can be considering the circumstances. Just get here soon please, I don't know how much longer I can last.

N: Of course we'll be there as fast as we can. I think Alex will be able to get something out of him.

M: Hopefully.

Mallix held a sigh wanting nothing but good news. He was brought out of it when he could hear Nina suddenly talking to someone else. Her voice was harsh yet soft as Mallix could sense she was trying to multitask many things at once.

N: No you cannot have that right now Z, we've got to get home...I said no...that's enough of that then.

The line went quiet for a moment, Mallix looked wide eye at his phone thinking Nina had hung up but after a few seconds he could hear quiet crying and Nina frustratedly groaning.

M: What's going on over there?

N: Nothing. Zander just thought it would be a good idea to try and open something he isn't allowed to yet in the car. Speaking of which...

Her voice softened as she directed her voice in another direction before getting louder.

N: ...Zander I said enough now you can just wait til we get home before I let you have this...you know what M I have to go. We can talk more about this in person.

M: Sure thing N, drive safe. See you soon.

N: You too.

The line cut as he threw his phone besides him along with his head in his hands. He felt useless having nothing else to do while Alex was in the room interrogating James without him.

Eventually curiosity got the better of him. Getting up from his spot on the couch, Mallix made his way over to Nina's room and pressed his ear up against the shut door.

From inside he could just hear out faint grunts. Trying to tune in better to the noise going on, he was able to hear Alex questioning James.

"So let me get this straight, not only did you know where this base of theirs was located this entire time! But you've also been there yourself?!" His voice was raised enough to scare James but not enough to echo throughout the rest of the cabin.

There was no reply other than a shaky mumble followed by a loud smacking noise that even sent shivers down Mallix's spine.

"How could you?! How could you betray us like that James?! I thought we were your friends! We looked after you for so many years! Stopped how many people from bullying you! For gods sake I even thought of you like a younger brother!" Alex's voice was hurt.

"Thought you were my friends?" Finally James voice came through. "No you guys aren't my friends! You're Mallix's friends! Always have been and always will be! I've always just been his shadow to you guys! Something that doesn't exists but was always around! Don't think I haven't heard the times you've called me a burden! So no Alex, you guys are not my friends! And I would do this all over again if I could!" James screamed back.

Hearing an even louder slap ring out several times, James could be heard whimpering out in pain. Too intrigued by what was going on, Mallix twisted the handle of the door finding it open. Letting himself into the room he saw James with blood all over his torso. His clothing had been ripped up slightly in the places where blood spewed out. Next to James, Mallix saw Alex holding a whip tightly in his fist.

Mallix's jaw dropped seeing how intense the last five minutes had been while he called Nina. Things had intensified quickly.

"Mallix get out of here! I told you to call Nina!" Alex shouted at him, much to his surprise. This wasn't the same tone Alex would normally use to ease a situation. He was aggravated.

"I just got off the phone with her, she says she'll be home shortly. What's going on in here?" He asked in almost a whisper while James constant moaning grabbed his attention.

For everything he had put his wife and girl through, Mallix wanting nothing more than to see his brother suffer. But to finally see it in person, he felt sick to his stomach. "Alex this is enough. Where did you even find a whip?" He calmly tried to reason as he approached the furious man.

"Oh you mean this." He chuckled scarily calm while he ran the length of the whip through the palm of his hand, leaving a trail of blood behind. "You'll never believe where I found it." He turned his attention to James. "Shall I tell him? Or do you want to?"

Mallix looked confused between the two. Seeing as James was hurting too bad to speak, Alex took it as silence. "Alright I'll do it if you insist." He turned back to Mallix wiping the blood off his hands onto his pants. "Your brother here was hiding a lot more than just knowledge M." He said seriously pointing towards Nina's closet.

Moving in closer to inspect the messily full packed space, Mallix was able to spot an empty place on the top shelf where the outline of a box was. "James here brought weapons from the facility and smuggled them inside the cabin." Alex explained grabbing the missing box from the self out from besides him on the floor.

The shocked and fearful look Mallix had on his face was mortifying. "But don't worry about all of these. Yeah...I got them before he was able to use them on us. Isn't that right James?" He mocked turning around maniacally. It was clear Alex was slowly losing himself to a darkness that made Mallix nervous. "But he's going to make up for it." Alex suggested looking Mallix dead in the eyes.

"How?"

"He's going to get us into the Fendly's base."
