Chapter 60: Dreamland

"How about we go home precious?" Mallix leaned down kissing the small girls cheek while he began to bounce her around on his hip. Hearing his voice—so safe and strong—made Kaila melt far down into his embrace. Nothing would be able to take her away from a moment like this.

Digging her face into his chest and letting his natural masculine scent fill her nose Kaila nodded wanting nothing more than to be at her home with them. "And when were home how does a nice bottle sound?" Lain had placed her hand on Kaila's back. The small girl sighed feeling the comfort as Lain used her nails to gently scratch random patterns on Kaila's back.

Once again nodding her head Kaila fell even further into her own mind.

She had peaked up from her place in Mallix's arms seeing he was only carrying her with one hand, having the other intertwined with Lain's hand. They walked her over to the door when something magical happened. Lain had opened the door revealing that the facility was not on the other side of it, instead they found themselves walking in through their garage door.

Looking around with tear stained eyes Kaila looked in awe as she finally made it back—she was home. "Let's get you all cleaned up and then we'll get you that bottle." Lain had cracked a smile as she took Kaila easily from Mallix. Setting the girl on her hip Kaila eagerly placed her head onto the woman's chest pressing down firmly listening to the rhythmic beating of her heart.

"I've got you baby girl, you're safe. You know we wouldn't let anything happen to you." Kaila listened to Lain calmly say as the tall woman kept a strong yet soft hold of Kaila's head, keeping it in place as they headed up the stairs.

Getting past the third and final baby gate, Lain had taken the small girl with her into the nursery as she picked out a clean set of jammies. As they got in the bathroom Kaila nearly bursted into tears when she felt Lain was about to set her down. A whole panic attack was begin to set in before Lain gripped onto Kaila's small hands firmly looking her in the eyes as she found herself sat on the toilet. "Hey no more tears baby, mommy's just going to get your bath ready."

But the assurance wasn't enough, Kaila held on tightly to Lain's hands not wanting any separation. "Alright you little koala, give mommy just one second then to do something else." Keeping a close eye on the sweet and nurturing gleam in the tall woman's eyes, Kaila hadn't even noticed Lain had slipped out of her grasp. Quickly turning on the water, Kaila watched as Lain stripped out of her clothes before helping Kaila with hers.

Stepping into the bath first, Lain held her hand out to Kaila who didn't need someone to tell her twice. Once they were both inside, Lain sat down letting the warm water surround her body. Motioning for Kaila to follow, the small girl found herself wrapped in Lain's arms as she laid contently in the soothing liquid.

They stayed like that until the water had become cold. Still allowing Kaila to rest against her chest, Lain had reached over and started the warm water back up replacing the cold as she squirted shampoo into her hands and massaged it into her little girls scalp.

Kaila couldn't help but relax more as she dazed off into dreamland. Such a peaceful feeling came over her and she didn't mind Lain continuing to wash her hair and body. Slowly letting go again, Kaila was content to playing in the water as Lain washed herself.

After draining the water Lain had wrapped herself in a towel and briefly drying herself off before she grabbed Kaila and wrapped her in her own. Completely drying her entire body, Lain quickly dressed Kaila in her jammies.

"Don't you look cute." She cooed at the small girl kissing her nose while she lifted her up off the ground and left the bathroom with her towel wrapped around her body.

Entering her bedroom they both saw Mallix with his freshly washed hair in his pajamas reading a book on their bed with an already made bottle of milk on his bedside table.

"Look who finally made it. Seems like you guys decided to take your sweet time. " He laughed. His smile was enough to make one appear on Kaila's face too.

"Well someone was feeling rather clingy today during bath time." Lain placed Kaila down on their bed. Without whining or fussing Kaila allowed it, instantly crawling over to Mallix and snuggling in close to his side.

He placed his book down and picked Kaila up laying her down on his chest, all while Lain grabbed her own set of pajamas and slipped into them before joining the other two on the bed. The scent of baby shampoo filled his nose to no surprise.

Lain got up besides them running her nails through Kaila's hair as she tiredly blinked looking up at both of them. "You want that bottle now?" Lain cooed down after seeing how exhausted Kaila's eyes were.

Before she even had a chance to respond, Mallix had grabbed the bottle from his side and sat up with Kaila on his lap. He had turned her so her head was laying sideways on his chest while her legs extended outwards onto Lain.

Bringing the bottle up to her lips she happily accepted it and began to gulp down its savory content. "Slow down Kaila, the milks not going anywhere and neither are we." Lain said as she ran her nails up and down Kaila's legs making her both squirm slightly as it tickled and settled as it eased her mind of some tension.

Letting Lain's words guide her, Kaila had slowed down letting her gulps turn into small suckles. "That's better," Mallix rubbed his free hand up and down her side.

Within a matter of moments Kaila felt her eyes beginning to drop, but she did not want this moment to end. She hadn't felt so safe and cared for in a while, and not wanting this moment to end just yet Kaila tried fighting off sleep as hard as she could.

She shot her eyes open and stared at the loving couple that just stared back at her. No words needed to be said, their mere presence was enough to satisfy themselves. Mallix leaned in pressing another gentle kiss on Kaila's forehead, leaving his lips there to linger for a second longer before pulling away.

Feeling his lips lift off her head, Kaila could've broken into even more tears if it wasn't for the fact that she felt the now empty bottle being removed from her mouth and she was moved to lay in between the couple. Each of them wrapping an arm around the small girl.

"Go to bed precious, it's late and far past your bedtime." Mallix smiled as both he and his wife watched as Kaila snuggled right into their soft pillow.

His caring words had put her in a trance, as she allowed her eyes to shut easily. Still feeling their hands wrapped around her Kaila whispered out at them, "I love you."

She didn't have to open her eyes to hear the smiles on their faces as they both replied, "I love you too." Kaila smiled letting that moment of pure love be her last feeling for the day.
