After a rather long ride away Mallix turned off the car lights and pulled over on the highway. Tall trees surrounded them everywhere. The only other source of living creatures were the animals that inhabited the forest. The road was dead. Nobody had passed them for miles now and there was no one in sight.
"Where now?" Mallix peered into the backseat of the car where James was sat behind his seat. "We just hit the end of your trail." He informed.
"Keep going up a few miles, when you see a bent street sign there's a hidden driveway to the right. It's covered by grass but the more you drive up that way the clearer the path gets. Just ride it out from that point on, it'll be a straight shot to their facility. But I'm warning you, they have cameras everywhere they'll be able to see us coming once we get out of the tree line." James noted.
"Don't worry about us being detected, all you needed was to worry on getting us there. And now that your job is taken care of..." Alex reached into the backseat of the car until he felt a backpack he had packed earlier.
Putting it into his lap, he grabbed out a roll of duct tape and ripped a piece of it off before applying it over James mouth. There was a small struggle but with barely any room to move, Alex had the tape on him faster than a lion pouncing on its prey.
He grunted behind the tape as Mallix momentarily turned the car lights back on and began to follow the rest of the instructions. As described a few miles up ahead, there indeed was a random stop sign in the middle of an open highway that was bent backwards. "Guess this is our turn."
He made the right and followed a clear open path between the forest trees until a path became noticeable. Finally shutting off the car lights again, Mallix leaned forwards trying to keep a watch on the road. After a few miles and some challenging turns they made it to the tree line of the forest.
"Stop here." Alex warned Mallix seeing the moving cameras James talked of monitoring the open field behind the small forest. The entire perimeter was lit up by dim lights that allowed the cameras to pick up motion.
"You sure your contact has this covered Alex?" Mallix looked over.
"Don't worry, he's got this. Those cameras should be turned off right about..." looking over at the time on his phone Alex saw it said 1:59 am. He held out his sentence waiting until the clock moved up one minute. "Now." He finally said.
Mallix looked up at the facility and dropped his jaw as he watched the dim lights on the exterior of the facility shut off and the moving cameras power down. While he knew of the plan, it didn't stop him from looking impressed at Alex.
"Your welcome." Alex laughed and shrugged. "Now let's go, we only have an hour before these all turn active again."
With an impresses face Mallix stepped on the gas pedal as he drove them up to a large metal gate. "I hope your contact is as good as you say. Aren't we suppose to meet them here?"
"Yup. Get out of the car." He instructed Mallix while grabbing his helmet from the back and stepped out.
Mallix rushed to follow. Outside he saw Alex standing with the helmet with his arms crossed staring at the bars on the gate. "Hurry and get yours on." He warned lowly.
Throwing his helmet over his head Mallix stood symmetrical to Alex. "What're we doing just standing here?" He asked.
"Waiting to be let in, duh." Alex chuckled behind his mask.
"Where are all the guards who are suppose to be out here?" Mallix asked looking around and noticing not a single being in sight.
"No idea but let's hope wherever they are, they stay there."
"Hey speaking of your contact, you never told me their name. Or anything about them for that matter."
"M you know I don't know their name. All I know is that I've been going back and forth with them for years now and I trust them completely. They have never let me down, and I don't expect them to start now."
"I had a feeling you were going to say that. Well I trust your judgment so they must be alright."
The two men waited another minute before hearing the clicks of the metal gate unlock followed by a silent squeak as it croaked opened. In the distance a small figure approached them. The closer they got the clearer they became. Mallix noted that they too were dressed in a Hound uniform.
Not saying a word the unknown person just waved them into the facility courtyard.
"Well, you heard them. Let's go get your girls back M." Alex nudged Mallix with a hint of confidence in his voice before running to the figure.
As Mallix joined them he finally got a good look of the Fendly's base. The exterior walls were covered in what looked like some kind of dark metal, and the few windows that it had were tinted so much he couldn't see anything inside. One of the most noticeable features was the front outline. From Mallix's point of view he could clearly see where one department ended and another began. The small indents separating them were apparent. He just whistled impressed with the building design.
Shaking his head and getting back on buisness Mallix looked between Alex and his contact. The figure didn't say a word to either men. Instead just using body movement to signal them to stay quiet and to follow their lead.
After they nodded in agreement, they were signaled to move down a darkened path hidden away from the bright lights aimed at the center of the courtyard. Staying close to one another, and being wary of everything around them, the trio made their way up against the facility wall.
Fumbling around through their weapons belt, the unannounced helper took out a set of keys unlocking the building doors. Behind Mallix's mask his entire face was shocked seeing that they were going to be entering the facility this easily.
"Follow my lead." The voice from behind the unfamiliar mask finally said holding the door handle. Something about their voice was familiar. Mallix knew that he had heard them before, he just couldn't place his finger on where. This was a distinct voice, from behind their mask Mallix could hear a slight distortion to their normal voice.
Catching sight of Alex nodding at him out of his peripheral vision, Mallix copied having faith in his friends connections. The unknown figure counted down on their figure before opened the door putting both men in shock.
Inside there were red lights flashing all through the halls as a combination of patients, Hounds, doctors, and everyone in between were running around as a loud siren blared out. "I guess this answers where all the guards are." Alex tried to ease the tension with a small joke. Somewhat for Mallix's sanity, but mainly for his.
The amount of fighting and yelling happening was overbearing. Quickly they all stepped into the madness. All the commotion gave them enough cover to get in undetected.
Keeping close to one another the unknown figure began to run. The two men followed closely not wanting to be lost into the sea of action.
'Don't worry girls! I'm here, and I'm going to get you both out of this place!' Mallix thought trying to block out the noises around him and focused on keeping up with Alex and their mystery guide.
