Chapter 77: Designer Suits

After another half hour at the cabin, Alex and Mallix were still working out the details with James about their break in. And by working out, it was more like Alex asking James questions about every little detail while Mallix threatened to smack him again with the bat or hit him with the whip. The air was so tense that neither of them even heard the front door open as Nina and Zander walked in.

"Finally," Nina exhaustedly breathed out as Zander bursted into the cabin from behind her nearly making her lose her balance and drop the bags of supplies in her hands. "Zander stop. If you want your toy then you'll get back out here and help me bring the bags in." 

"Fine..." he kicked the ground tenderly not taking his eyes off the floor.

"Watch that attitude mister, I'm sure Alex doesn't want me telling him how you were misbehaving all day." She warned placing the bags in her hand on the floor.

"No!" He panicked and rushed out of the cabin faster to assist with the bags. Nina just rolled her eyes not sure what's gotten into Zander today. Deciding to bring it up with Alex alone later, she brushed the matter to the side and watched as Zander shakily brought in the remaining bags from the car in one trip.

"Thank you Zander. Now how about you help me unpack these things in your old room and then I'll let you open up your new toy." She smiled sweetly being met with excited eyes. All Zander wanted was to finally get his hands on his gift. Scooping up Nina's bags on top of the ones he already had, he rushed into the room laying them out on the bed.

Nina slowly made her way into the room, passing by her room hearing the men discussing something over. She decided it would be best to talk about everything later. Right now she needed to begin working on Mallix's request.

Walking into her new room, she saw that Zander had neatly laid out the different materials and fabrics she had bought along with the tools besides them. "Aren't you a little speedster?" She laughed not expecting all this to be done so quickly.

"Can I have the toy now?!" He bounced lightly on his toys looking down in the one bag he didn't go through.

"Yes you can. But do me a favor and just sit here and play with it."

"But I wanna show Alex!" He whined finally grabbing the mechanical toy car from the bag and waved it around.

"I know you do Z, but Alex is busy right now with Mallix. You're just going to have to wait. Besides I want to see that car of yours in action." She sent him a cheerful look hoping this wouldn't escalate further.

"But he's gonna love it! I know he will!" Zander persisted as he attempted to open the box. Although not much of a surprise to Nina, the little boy struggled to get past the tapes holding down the flaps.

"Here I'll do it," she waved him over grabbing a pair of scissors out and opening the box. Passing it back to Alex she saw how big his eyes lit up and how a small shriek came from him. He was jumping in joy. "Now go play over there while I get some work done. And I promise you the second Alex is done with James you can show him your toy."

Pouting slightly Zander nodded and sat down in the empty corner of the room racing around his new toy. Nina couldn't help but awe at how far Zander was willing to take things and her mind only expanded to what this could grow into. Getting further into her own thoughts she felt a tear slip out as she began thinking of the little girl she missed dearly.

Thinking about how much fun the two of them would be having and all the adventures they would get themselves into. Not to mention all the trouble they would make and all the nonsense she'd put them up to. There was no better Aunt than her. She cracked a hopeful smile wanting desperately for this plan of theirs to work. After all they only had one chance to get this right.

Looking down at the materials in front of her, Nina pulled out her phone and looked very carefully at Mallix's reference picture before beginning what would become a very long process.

She was working so intently that an hour flew by in the blink of an eye. Taking a step back to witness her progress she smiled seeing how she had the torso for one suit done. "Hey Zander hows-" she went to ask before seeing the boy laying on the floor fast asleep with the car tightly in his arms.

Making a debatable decision she slowly walked over to Zander without her crutches to test out the strength in her leg. The second she took her first step Nina nearly fell over but was quick to catch herself. Proceeding with extreme caution she steadied herself while grabbing a blanket from out of the closet and threw it over Zander's body.

Moving the toy from out of his arms so he could sleep without a worry of hurting himself with the half plastic half metallic toy she got back to the small desk at the other end of the room starting back up her work.

All the while Mallix and Alex were still trying to map out a decent entrance point for the Fendly base with James help.

The day had passed and with only one and a half of the suits done, Nina wanted to call it a day. Zander had woken up hours before the sun set and was allowed to roam the rest of the cabin to play as long as he didn't disturb the men in the other room.

Remembering back to her small victory earlier, Nina walked out of the room without her crutches keeping close to the walls for support. Outside in the living room she saw Zander sitting down playing with his car and a bowl of cereal besides him. Chowing down and playing at the same time.

"Hey Z, you doing ok?" She checked in carefully maneuvering herself to sit on the couch behind him.

He mumbled a response with a mouthful. "Is Alex done yet?" He asked after he quickly swallowed the remaining food in his mouth nearly choking at the scene.

"First off, no he isn't. Secondly, chew your food before you choke." She scolded getting a small sorry in return.

"He's taking forever!" He dragged out slamming his new toy onto the floor as he whined.

"Hey I know it's been a few hours but he's busy Z. Now finish up your food and we can play together if you'd like..." she tried to persuade him right as the door to her old room opened.

Both Mallix and Alex stepped out looking rather fondly at a piece of paper they held together. "Alex!" Zander jumped instantly running over to Alex with his toy in hand.

"Look what I got today!" He eagerly bounced getting a small smile from Alex.

"That's so cool buddy." He handed Mallix the paper before lifting Zander up as he rambled on about his new toy. "All of that is very interesting, but there's something I need to talk to you about first." Alex seriously said to Zander who's rambling stopped and his excitement was replaced with nerves.

Nina looked over confused but Mallix just waved at her to dismiss her confusion. 'Great more news that we need to cover...what kind of madness is this going to involve now?' She began to mentally prepare herself for what was to come.
