Hours later back at the cabin Mallix, Alex, and Nina were all getting ready for their great escape. One at a time they had to slip into their suits before Nina could complete them. Mallix stepped into the bathroom first getting the outfit on before stepping out and looking at himself in awe through the full body mirror she had in the room. He looked like a true Hound.
"Thanks Nina." Mallix hugged her carefully as she placed the final touches on his suit.
"Don't thank me Mallix. Just get our girls out of there safely." She smiled as she stepped back admiring her work. "What do you think?"
"I think it looks exactly like the picture." He smiled seek the resemblance as he looked between his phone and the mirror in front of him.
"They won't even know what hit them." Alex chuckled as he stepped out of the bathroom in his own Hound replicate suit. "I don't know how you did it so fast N, but you are truly a miracle worker."
She flung her long curls over her shoulder already knowing how good her designs were. "Alex, come here. I need to put the last details on your suit now that it's on."
She started placing different accessories on the suit to make it seem more realistic while Mallix still looked between himself and the picture reference. "You alright Mallix?" Alex asked seeing him.
"Yeah I'm just nervous is all. I really hope this works." He nervously spoke as Nina finished the final touches to Alex's suit as well.
"It's going to work M. We've gone through everything we could think of to make sure this all runs smoothly." Nina assured turning back to the bed handing each of them their own helmet to fully disguise them.
"Are you guys sure you've got this?" She sat down needing to give her foot a break from standing up for so long. Her new goal was to build the strength in her foot back up until she was able to walk without worry. All the pain in it had subsided, the only thing remaining was a shooting pain up her lower calf every time she stood for too long.
"Thanks Nina, but no. I need someone here to watch over Zander. I certainly don't want him coming with us, and I don't trust him to be here alone." Alex smiled.
"Fine by me! Aunty duties come first anyways." She threw her hands up celebrating before looking back at them seriously. "We'll be just fine. You two are the ones I'm worried for. It's bad enough how much I've worried about the girls. Last thing I need is for something to happen to either of you two."
"N we'll be fine." Mallix chuckled as she rambled.
"I know...I know." She sniffled, "alright get going now before I really start crying. Today was hard enough trying to make sure everything was perfect, but now it's even harder worrying if we forgot to check anything."
"Nina, come on we'll be fine. I know we're going to be able to handle ourselves out there. It'll be an easy fix. In and out. They won't even know we were there" Alex confidently stood.
She smiled at their certainty as she slowly stood and walked behind them out of the room. After passing her old room and seeing the ropes that held James down still on the corners of the bed frame Nina asked, "is he all set?" before they could get to the front door.
"Yeah, we've got him tied up good. He won't be leaving anytime soon." Mallix nodded to confirm.
"Alright, well good luck." She said taking a deep breathe as they opened the front door waving them goodbye.
Mallix was already out and stepping into the drivers seat of the car when Alex stopped after hearing a loud, "WAIT!" causing him to freeze in his tracks.
Turning around he saw Zander running over faster than the speed of light. Stopping in front of Alex he hugged him tightly, not caring about the hard material he was pushing against.
Both of them held onto one another for a minute. As they pulled apart they held hands looking into one another eyes for an extra second when Alex felt something slip into his hand.
He raised his eyebrow looking at Zander who hugged him one last time whispering into his ear, "it's for you to read as your driving there." He blushed as he pecked Alex's cheek before he let go and joined Nina's side who couldn't help but smile at them.
Everything happened so fast that Alex couldn't even process it. In a split second he felt his little boy move away from him, unconsciously he just cracked a smile knowing whatever just happened—he loved it. Waving bye to both of them, he walked out shutting the door behind him.
Getting into the car Mallix looked at him lost, "what took so long?" He buckled his seat belt putting his helmet in the back seat as Alex followed suit.
"Uh...nothing." He ensured before checking on James who was sat on the floor on the backseat out of view from anyone they would pass. His hands and feet were bound with rope, as his mouth had tape over it.
In one clean rip, Alex managed to cleanly take it off him as he screeched in pain. "You're going to be quiet until we ask you a question. If you say something any other time, then you can forget about the deal we made this morning."
James frantically nodded his head accepting the terms. "You ready?" Mallix asked as Alex sat back in his seat and buckled up.
Nodding his head Alex started the engine beginning to drive down the path James mapped out for them prior. The ride was silent as they each were thinking of the plan of action. Everything was seemingly falling into place, there wasn't anything that was going to stand in their way.
As Alex noticed Mallix was too focused on the road and his thoughts, he quickly pulled out Zander's letter. The nighttime sky was going to make this tricky, but using the few street lights that passed them by he was able to see the note with some ease.
He read the note for as gentle as it was before holding the note close to his heart. Alex felt a tear slip and hit his hand. Trying to pull himself together before Mallix could catch onto him, Alex managed to suppress his tears, however, he still wasn't able to hide the growing smile and blush becoming noticeable on his face.
Placing the note into a pocket on the suit, he breathed out sweetly. Looking out the window Alex only pictured one thing, the face of his sweet boy cheering him on. It was enough encouragement to make sure he did this job right.
