"No! No I'm not wearing one of those! You're not putting it on me! Let me go!" Kaila screamed even surprising herself with how loud she was. But it didn't even faze the doctor. Instead he steadied her body between the glass wall and his body, opening the collar he slipped it onto her neck and sealed it shut.
As it did, Kaila heard a strange series of dings around her head. "That collar has the power to emit a strong dosage of electricity, if you comply then you won't have to worry about this," he held a remote in his hands pressing the giant red button in front of Kaila.
The small girl didn't feel anything at first but yelped when she suddenly was met with a bolt of electricity stabbing into her neck. She fell to her knees trying to pry the collar off. "I'll save you some time and tell you that it doesn't come off. The only way it can is when I deactivate it with this remote." He waved it around before placing it into his pocket for safe keeping.
"Fuc-" Kaila tried to spit at him before she felt another jolt of energy hit her. Dr. Todd looked down shaking his head as he pulled his hand out of his pocket.
"Let's get one thing out of the way first, you are not allowed to swear. It's one of your buyers request. If you even try to say something like that again, well I think you get the picture." Holding his hand out to assist Kaila back to her feet, she scoffed getting up on her own.
"Alright then, straight into business I guess." He flipped through the pages of his clipboard, rechecking everything that he needed to cover with Kaila.
Meanwhile, the small girl saw this moment of distraction as a perfect chance to try and escape this horrible place. Checking outside of the glass cage, there was nobody around to see her escape. The other patients and doctors were all too occupied with themselves to even notice if something was off.
Getting herself hyped up Kaila shook off her nerves secretly, counting down in her head she screamed as she charged at Dr. Todd. She was able to hit him with surprise when he fell onto his back. Kaila instinctively grabbed the remote for her collar out of his pocket, and ID badge off his coat. "Yes!" She cheered before kicking him in the side for good measures.
Taking to her feet again, Kaila unlocked the door with his ID and booked it down the row of cages. She was surprised by how fast her legs were able to carry her after all the pain they had just endured.
The row seemed to go on forever as she sprinted down it. So far nobody had paid the girl any attention as she had anticipated. The entire room was fairly dark, already giving her some cover. "I'm so close!" She smiled seeing the door back into the main department only a few feet away.
She reached her arm out to press the ID badge in the center like Lauren did, bouncing when it accepted it. All it took was one second for Kaila's emotions to change. Standing right outside the door was two Hounds on either side.
"Lauren said you'd try to escape again." She heard one mumble out from behind his mask angrily as they grabbed her by the arms and dragged her back in, confiscating both stolen items from her.
They dragged her body up the row of cages ignoring her pleads and retaliation when they met up with Dr. Todd who was running down to meet them. As he stopped he rested his hand on his side, feeling extreme pain from where Kaila kicked him. "May I?" He held his hand out to the Hound with his belongings.
Nodding, the Hound passed Dr. Todd his items. Without a second thought, he pressed the red button on the remote.
"AH!" Kaila yelled as her body fell limp to the pain. But it wasn't satisfying enough. Instead Dr. Todd pressed it a second and third time making sure Kaila understood what the collar was capable of when used on a higher level.
"Follow me back to her box." Dr. Todd instructed the Hounds. They both agreed and followed the Doctor lead them to the glass cage. Kaila was weak, letting her feet drag behind her as the Hounds violently carried her.
Arriving back at the cage, the Hounds tossed the small girl in landing flat on the floor as Dr. Todd thanked them for their services. Sealing the door behind him, Kaila found herself once again trapped in the room.
There was silence between the two as Dr. Todd rubbed his temples keeping the remote close. He sighed inhaling sharply before death staring at Kaila. "Thirty minutes?! Ms. Fendly warned me of the fact that you love to risk your health for any chance you see at getting out of here! Even if the chance of success if zero!" Brushing his blond hair out of his face, he cracked his neck.
"I do not have time to be playing these silly games! I have a job to do! I have never failed, and I do not intend to start now with you!" His voice dropped an entire octave as he got in Kaila face. "From this point forwards you will listen to me! We have to get through many of these very specific requests that there is no more room for you to be misbehaving. I'm warning you, if you even look like you're thinking about escaping again I won't hesitate to use the collar." His eyes were red as he backed up.
The situation escalated greatly when he tightened his grip on the remote to Kaila's collar. After seeing with his own eyes her persistent attitude towards escaping, he was not going to take any more chances. Kaila's body tended fearing he would press the button at any given point.
"Get up." He said with no emotion not having any patience. Kaila nervously got up off the floor from where the Hounds threw her. "Get on your knees." He instructed confusing Kaila.
'Didn't he just tell me to stand up?' She thought as she lowered herself down onto her knees.
"Get up." He repeated. This time Kaila was completely lost.
"Why-" she tried before an even sharper and larger amount of energy bursted through her neck. The amount of electricity given by the collar, was enough to always hurt the patient, but to never kill or damage them. She cried out in pain trying to pull at the collar for relief, but none came.
"You do not get to question orders. Just do them. Now.Get.Up." He coldly said.
Her legs felt like jello as she lifted herself to stand straight. Before she knew it Dr. Todd spoke, "get on your knees." Anticipating that Kaila was already beginning to get down.
This continuous pattern of standing and kneeling repeated time and time again until Kaila felt so exhausted she was about to collapse onto the floor. While she attempted to stand up, her knees were giving in and were slowly getting heavier—dragging her down in the process.
But was suddenly awoken and reenergized when a large bolt surprised her. "AHHH!" She yelled in agonizing pain falling to her knees.
"I said get up." Dr. Todd said again angrily. By this point Kaila was too tired to rebel. Continuing for the next hour they ran through the same cycle. With every misstep and mistake the shocking reminder was something Kaila came to fear as the pain only worsened. Willingly she felt herself giving in.
